Wonder what Coach Q would've been able to do with this roster/pipeline...

Just gonna copy and paste from the GDT because f*** it that's more effort than the crayon eaters in the front office

Can't score
Can't defend
actually decent 5v5
godawful special teams
can't hit, won't hit
not fast enough--good skaters that aren't playing fast enough to use their skating
what's the system
zero identity
zero heart, fight

Injuries aren't an excuse for lifelessness, we saw the pens the other night win with their 7 highest paid players out. You don't need talent to work hard.

this is an unacceptable measure of 'progress' at this point.

I can accept reckless youthful mistakes pushing the play and being aggressive especially vs. an experienced team like the Blues. I can't accept laziness or lackadaisical play and no one finishing their hits. This blues team has to be looking at the vets that used to turn them black and blue and laughing their absolute assess off while they stickhandle past the third drive-by.

This has become literally the worst stretch of Kings hockey I've ever seen, spinning our wheels in mud, working towards absolutely nothing, ruining both vets AND youth with a lack of vision or cohesion in any way. Guarantee you the first trade we make will go off and produce 1.5x what they are here in a 'role' fit for them...and I'm willing to bet it's Kempe.

Someone earlier mentioned the TM years and how it felt they were at least coming together and building towards something; this team feels like a pickup game where the sticks were just thrown in the middle and the guys have their memories wiped night after night and have to reintroduce themselves to new guys. No brotherhood here. Who is next to get run over?

That's my biggest problem with the people who want to give it to the end of season. Like what is going to change? What signs are they seeing that change is on the horizon?

It makes no sense. I said that sentiment about TM too. When the Kings were losing with Terry Murray, you at least knew what the f*** the plan was

Right, with TM there was a sense that we were working towards something. It was clear that we weren't good enough yet--but the effort was always there and guys were always growing. at least until it got stagnant in 2012.

It's basically the complete opposite now. We're regressing year over year, no one knows what the plan is, and every other night we're like are these guys even skating? What's the endgame here?

The Stanley Cup! That's what Blake and Robitaille keep saying, it must be true.

End game? Whichever players get traded to, and/or signed by Detroit or Colorado will win a Stanley Cup some day.

Outsider's perspective-Blake has done a really good job putting together a talented group of prospects.
You guys probably need defense but the forward group is really deep. I have no idea why you guys want Blake fired.
I've seen enough of McClellan in SJ/Edmonton to know why you guys want him out.

Well, it wasn't Mrs. Loopner who hired Todd.

I think the consensus around many here was that this was Blake's put up or shut up year. This is the year moves start getting made to address the defense and round out the roster. Everyone knows that we have a forward-heavy prospect pool, and a lot of them look quite good. That needs to be done this year, we have enough good prospects where it doesn't matter which ones we trade apart from the obvious top guys. He's done a great job of getting assets, it's time to spend them to address weaknesses.

If he doesn't do that this year, then yeah, it's time to seriously look at making a change.

It's because Blake did a mean thing many years ago as a player (stringing the team along in negotiations so that they didn't trade him before free agency, only to sign somewhere else in free agency) that has earned him the eternal enmity of a portion of Kings fans with elephantine memories.

The forward group is deep by what standard....Hope ?

Before they fire the coach they will make a shakeup trade if things dont change by the 20 game mark. Like they did with Pearson a couple years back. It will be Kempe.
The day they start trading guys like Kempe is the day this team is done. He was a good prospect and to throw a guy like that away signals that you really don't know what the hell you're doing.
