Cowan is better than anything lindholm or horvat returned, and Nelson is worse than both too. I dont even like Cowan that much but 1st+ cowan is wayyyy better return than 1st + bru or 1st + raty. Nelsons comparable is that monahan got last yr.

Truth is in the middle usually and I think it fits here.

The Leafs package is solid value. The 2026 1st would have more value than the 2025 1st IMO. This draft appears to have a big drop around 20. Cowan is one of those B+ or fringe grade A guys and I don't think he has any more value than what Robertson or Knies had (pre NHL). Solid prospect but projects as a 3rd liner IMO. Robertson doesn't have that much value at this stage. It's not crap value but it's not a piece teams are aggressively after.

And Nelson is going to return more than your typical late 1st and B+ prospect. He's one of the better 2 way centers available and there will be many teams in on him. I can see Nelson getting more than the typical late 1st and B+ return.

Whatever center the Leafs add, I would not be taking someone who plays 18-20 min's a game in a 2C role and then play them 14-17 min's in a 3C role. That player may not be use to it and you might not get the value you think you will get. Ice time is a big deal in terms of getting the most of of the player.
