@BigKing

But I get to be GM. You all know my first move.

My first move would be to step aside and promote Laperriere to head coach. Currently 0-3-1 as head coach of the Flyers affiliate with four goals scored but only nine against. The goal count is par for the course but they are second in the league in PIMs so that's a huge improvement. Let's go!!!!

The day they start trading guys like Kempe is the day this team is done. He was a good prospect and to throw a guy like that away signals that you really don't know what the hell you're doing.
I didnt say I agree with it. Its just what they do. The scapegoat is always either the coach or a player just on the outside of the core.

Is it bad that I simply just don't care enough? My excitement for the season has already faded. I'm just no longer as emotionally invested as I was before. It's really hard for me to speculate on what should be done but I guess if I had to make a change I'd fire the coach because making a trade for simply making it would probably be the worst thing you can do. It's unlikely to actually change anything so then why do it? Go hire a coach that at bare minimum can motivate the players.

I nominate Major Reisman for coach. He will give the players three ways it can go this season.

I certainly hope for 2 things:

The key injuries, while brutal, don't give the org a free pass to throw away the season. Everyone can tell if the team is improving, there is an obvious visual difference between an inexperienced team that is trying and one that is mailing it in.

"Filling spots internally" is fine for the time being, but if a trade that is beneficial for the future comes up, you still do it. Particularly one that strengthens the D. To me, the only uninjured keepers on the roster right now are Anderson and Bjornfot, both are learning and improving and are going to be strong cost controlled assets.. Edler should fall in that group until the deadline.

It's been a struggle for me to switch to a Kings game when there is so much good hockey being played around the league. I can't remember ever feeling this way before.

I recommend binge watching Squid Games over watching the Kings game. You can fantasize about which people in the organization you want to see in the different games.

It's not bad but you can look at it as a sad thing on a personal level. I never thought my enthusiasm and dedication would wane to the point where it is now but I'm in the same boat. Used to be a time when not watching a game was a crazy idea. I already punted on going to the next three games because work night, would rather sit on the couch at 1PM instead and then NFL. I care more about my fantasy football team than this Kings team but, shit, my fantasy dudes on Rainbow Herbert give me way more joy than this franchise. It's sad because it used to be such a passion and easily one of the most important things in my life.

Maybe it's just growing up and being an adult. At least that's what I tell my wife...that and I'd rather spend time with her instead of going to the game or watching it. Of course, if the Kings played like the Bruins or something, I'd want to be all in again.

Agree with not making a trade just to make a trade. Don't even know what that trade would be. Worst thing is that T-Mac has an alibi now.

i don't even think it's a growing up thing, it's just a "doing things you enjoy" thing

why waste hundreds of hours and hundreds/thousands of dollars doing something you don't enjoy? it's a shit, unengaging product right now and it's not even like you're watching the future, you're basically watching the retirement home and a bunch of fill-ins collecting paychecks off your back..

For me it's definitely a combination of growing up and the fact that the Kings won the Cup not once but twice. I haven't cared as much since then. I'm playing with house money as far as being a fan is concerned. I still want to the Kings to do well but the last few seasons have really sucked out much of the passion I had remaining for the team itself. I still love hockey and watching it. Like you, I don't care if I miss a game. If I do and they win then I just watch the replay. The team is basically at the same point it was in 2006-2007 but that's lasted about four years now. That stings because 2007 was a horrible year to be a Kings fan!

Is Pete Demers back as the head athletic trainer? Just a few more injuries away from matching that stretch from 2002 through 2006 where we had to witness the likes of Jerred Smithson, Chris Schmidt, Jason Holland, John Tripp, Matt Ryan and Jeff Giuliano in the lineup.

My goodness was this during the Andy Murray years? Sheesh a few dark years during that time. Hmmm the bolded sure do sound familiar.....Wagner, Moore, Lizotte, Kempe, Amadio, Luff am I missing anyone?

Jim Rutherford is avaliable. I would give him the President/GM position. He has plenty of experince.

Bruh I haven’t cared much since we got our asses swept by Vegas.

Neither have the Kings.

I thought there would've been more to the Sharks series in 2016. That was the last real chance. Kopitar still on a great cap hit, getting Lucic, adding a couple vets in Lecavalier, Versteeg, and Schenn. Then nothing come playoff time, including 0-3 at home in the playoffs.

Yeah, not a great time in Kings history right now. If you have vivid memories of the Cups, it does take some of the sting out of terrible seasons. I don't know if that's good or bad.

I can't figure out what's worse, the horrible stretch between 2002-2009, or this disgusting product we've had to endure for the last 5 years.

Yeah I just... don't care

I have tickets for Sunday's game that I got as a Christmas present, so I'm going to that, but...

Yeah. I'm just too old now. I just don't care anymore.

ahh kings apathy , i hear ya bro, i hear ya ... i'm a early riser so i go to bed pretty early ... most the games don't end till a couple hours after im sleeping ... and i don't even try to stay awake anymore this year .. haha .... and can we give up with the DB on the top line yet ... :/

That's my biggest problem with the people who want to give it to the end of season. Like what is going to change? What signs are they seeing that change is on the horizon?

It makes no sense. I said that sentiment about TM too. When the Kings were losing with Terry Murray, you at least knew what the f*** the plan was

The change people see is that the old folks core is gone.
As much as they did for our generation, they do not do anything expected from team leaders.
A 10 million 1st line center should be able to take over a game at will or at latest in crunch time.
A veteran 1st line winger should just yell, give me the puck when i close to the net and i finish.
A 1st line defender and face of the franchise shouldn't be overrun by even rookies and should be able skate a straight line without fumbling

This core is supposed to teach the the youngsters the how and when.
The problem is that this core grew up under coaches who strangled any kind of creativity or offense hockey.
This shows even more now, when this core isn't able to enforce any kind of action because of their physical prime.
They just barely do the basic stuff that is asked of them but that is not cutting it in the NHL.
Include our coaching staff that is an exact clone of our last 2 coaches just without winning mentality and we have 0 progress and this is exactly what we whiteness now on a daily basis.

I totally understand that people throw in the towel and focus on the future.
I was laughed at when i mentioned that the KIngs are still 2-3 years away from playoff because Mr. Blake announced the rebuild is over.
If we talk about real contending for the cup i don't see that earlier then 4 years from now.

This is why people give away the season.
Let's do what's really important for the future, scout and draft the right youngsters and let them develop in the minors
and even more important, keep them away from the, washed up former glory heroes.
