Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Im sorry NYR fans.

We've had so little for 50 years.

We need to fabricate gotcha's now.

We have nothing else really.

I posted before how Vancouver actually got like 7 quarters for their shiny JT dollar if you factor in cap dumps and whatnot but some of us are obviously taking it harder than others.

I dont apoligize for Soucy but I will for these fans above.

To all the fatass types (thats actually his name) I hope you never experience the level of dysfunction that is the Canucks orginization, in your personal lives if the Jt Miller experience wasnt "worth the trouble".

I give it a 8 outta 10 and this canuck fan would Jt Miller experience again.
JT Miller is a 220 pound skilled wrecking ball on the ice. Unfortunately he’s a 220 wrecking ball to his teammates in the room too. You mention private lives. I have never heard anything bad about JT Miller in that sense.

JT Miller playing good, or bad with New york has nothing to do with us at this point. We had to trade him no matter what. It was the best move for Vancouver to move on, despite leaving a hole in our line up for the time being.

Lol clueless people still think it was EP40 vs JT Miller and it had to be one or the other.
I think most people understood the situation to be:

either EP or JTM or both will be traded, but under no circumstances will both stay.
The fact that the Canucks are still evaluating things with EP40 before his no movement kicks in on July1 should be enough common sense for people to understand that it wasnt JT Miller vs EP40.
that only tells you that the Canucks are willing to trade EP… it does nothing to refute the notion that management came to the conclusion that Miller and EP could no longer coexist on the same team.

It's dumb to make this a Miller vs. Pettersson trade; they weren't traded for each other.
Canucks sold high on a contract that was about to look really bad, and the Rangers are full of bad salary and aging forwards.
The main knock on Miller was always "what are the Canucks going to do in a couple of years when that contract begins to stink" and they have solved that problem after extracting his most competitive years.
Pettersson on the other hand is younger and has turned the corner, likely still has many big seasons ahead of him.
What I'm currently choked about on behalf of the Canucks is Chytil's injury, and likewise injury history re: concussions - the Canucks are down one of the main assets they need right now to be competitive.

Canucks sold high on a contract

I agree with your first sentence

I disagree with your second sentence…how did the canucks sell high when they gave up the best player and traded him for a bottom 6 injury prone forward, a decent prospect and a mid 1st round pick at best?

The canucks lost the miller trade but trading him was still the right move. No point keeping someone that doesn’t want to play for your team anymore.

The Canucks were over a barrel since JT limited their options given his desire to go to NY.

Long term this will still look good since I suspect his contract will age like milk left outside on a warm summer day.

Perhaps they could have insisted for a different young NHL forward like Will Cuylle. He’s not a center and who knows if he was available but he’s a good young middle 6 guy on a cheap deal.

Rangers trading a first and a good prospect for a 32 year old is a loss in itself. No clue what drury is thinking. They'll have to rebuild soon. In a couple of years when miller is 34 I highly doubt you'll think vancouver lost this deal.

That's a really good return for a 32yo player with a long contract to have gotten no retention.
It was a good trade - lots of teams pay to dump players in those scenarios (or don't get the return they expect).
I think it was an impressive trade and will be regarded as such in retrospect - it was almost the opposite of what happened with OEL.

Canucks traded a power forward who is 32 yrs old and about to exit his prime making 8 mil a year for 5 more years.

Opening up 8 mil in cap space alone and getting rid of that contract alone is a win for the Canucks who even with Miller is nowhere near ready to contend for the Cup.

Then getting M.Pettersson, Chytil and Mancini along with the trade is icing on the cake. We will take our bumps now but this was absolutely a win trade from Canucks pov. Especially since, JT Miller likely only wanted to go to NYR and NYR only.

We've been in the honeymoon phase with Miller before, enjoy it while it lasts.....He is a great player to have when things are going well for the team and himself......He is an absolute cancer when things are going bad and his antics will grow old fast on alot of players. This has been the book on him since his USA development days as a teenager.

I wonder if the rangers have the option to forfeit this years pick in favour of next season then they can retool for the next couple of years and be back to contenders, especially with shesterkin in net.

They do not. Nor would Pittt agree to it considering it could be a lottery ball for Gavin Mckenna next year....

How insane would that be ... Lemieux to Crosby to Mckenna

listening to them discuss Miller

He’s definately an old soul. Guy is out on west mount and Caufield. Literally the only player living on the north shore in West Van. And he said he likes the older demographic and quiet.

That sh/t is brutal going out to UBC and double bridges. 🤮🤮
I have no idea how the hell he lived out there
Sooooo far away
Apparently the entire team roasted him for it.

miller literally scored 100+ points last season and now you’re talking about getting out of his contract like he’s cap dump?

the thread would be locked within a few minutes if someone proposed that trade for miller before the EP40 drama went public
