Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

It's dumb to make this a Miller vs. Pettersson trade; they weren't traded for each other.
Canucks sold high on a contract that was about to look really bad, and the Rangers are full of bad salary and aging forwards.
The main knock on Miller was always "what are the Canucks going to do in a couple of years when that contract begins to stink" and they have solved that problem after extracting his most competitive years.
Pettersson on the other hand is younger and has turned the corner, likely still has many big seasons ahead of him.
What I'm currently choked about on behalf of the Canucks is Chytil's injury, and likewise injury history re: concussions - the Canucks are down one of the main assets they need right now to be competitive.

I think they are just trying to indirectly try to say we made a mistake by trading the wrong player and that we should have traded Pettersson instead of JT Miller. I guess that's where they are trying to spin it as. so its like "ha! you losers f ed up! Canucks sucks blah blah blah" but it also seems like other Ranger haters are trying to make fun of New York for making a bad trade. Overall not a very constructive thread anymore.

The Canucks sold high?!? You think that was the selling high return? You can't be serious.
Its on par with whatever Sabres got for Jack Eichel and Eichel was much young younger and better player. The 1st rounder was business as usual, we got a very good prospect in return in Mancini, and we got a roster player in Cythil. The fans seems to like Mancini a lot. Don't forget Miller is 32.... and a 7 more years tied to him. Us getting rid of that contract is also a win.

Is this sarcasm? The return isnt comparable at all. Also, He just turned 32 and theres 5 years left. Cap is exploding contract is not an issue

in the short term, this year and the next, they were definitely bent over a barrel, esp now that Chytil maybe lost for the whole year, possibly forever.

that said, its only true IF the rangers are winning, if they are a bad team, Vancouver poison pilled you guys.

when Miller is 34 and still have 4 years to go in his contract. You will not like him being a distraction and not an impact player.

I believe its a lose lose trade

The trade in vacuum was a fleecing. I dont care how the teams are doing its irrelevant.

Oh and when Miller turns 34 itll be the 26-27 season, and he’ll have three years left.

Even though with the chytil injury this looks bad for the Canucks, if Chytil can’t come back next year the Canucks can use the cap space for free agency. You can lose hockey trades and still be fine.
