Yikes. If this return was selling high, I'd hate to see what selling low would've beenCanucks sold high on a contract that was about to look really bad, and the Rangers are full of bad salary and aging forwards.

As a Pens fan, I certainly hope the pick rolls to next year.I wonder if the rangers have the option to forfeit this years pick in favour of next season then they can retool for the next couple of years and be back to contenders, especially with shesterkin in net.

They effectively got a potential lottery pick+ for a 32 year old with a full NMC who’s very clearly trending down. What did you expect his value to be?Yikes. If this return was selling high, I'd hate to see what selling low would've been
Semantics, but they used that pick for M. Petterson, so it's really more him for Miller now than it is the pick. They effectively got a potential lottery pick+ for a 32 year old with a full NMC who’s very clearly trending down. What did you expect his value to be?
Canucks traded a power forward who is 32 yrs old and about to exit his prime making 8 mil a year for 5 more years.
Opening up 8 mil in cap space alone and getting rid of that contract alone is a win for the Canucks who even with Miller is nowhere near ready to contend for the Cup.
Then getting M.Pettersson, Chytil and Mancini along with the trade is icing on the cake. We will take our bumps now but this was absolutely a win trade from Canucks pov. Especially since, JT Miller likely only wanted to go to NYR and NYR only.
We've been in the honeymoon phase with Miller before, enjoy it while it lasts.....He is a great player to have when things are going well for the team and himself......He is an absolute cancer when things are going bad and his antics will grow old fast on alot of players. This has been the book on him since his USA development days as a teenager.
miller literally scored 100+ points last season and now you’re talking about getting out of his contract like he’s cap dump?
the thread would be locked within a few minutes if someone proposed that trade for miller before the EP40 drama went public
it is selling high even though I right away called Chytil a retirement risk on this threadYikes. If this return was selling high, I'd hate to see what selling low would've been
indeed the Pettersson thing is just a symptom, they didnt get along, but its not like they cannot play together. The real reason why he's traded is because he was a negative influence in the room likely esp towards the younger guys.Miller himself still claiming the issues between him and Pettersson weren’t really an issue. I love how the media narrative still goes strong though.
Why do you think the GM would say it was an issue if it wasn’t? And former coach?Miller himself still claiming the issues between him and Pettersson weren’t really an issue. I love how the media narrative still goes strong though.
Ferland was a known issue, Benning was just that stupid (his contract wasn’t insured, that should have been a red flag that you don’t need a medical staff to confirm).indeed the Pettersson thing is just a symptom, they didnt get along, but its not like they cannot play together. my question is whether JR/Allvin will continue to target these concussions/injury risks like Byram, Norris, Fabbri, etc.... after having Ferland, Chytil, Poolman, Baertschi pass through their medical dept?
A GM has one job, and that job is to o it together a competitive team. The team was sinking and something needed to be done. He saw an opportunity where two players were struggling while the team was slumping. Why do you think the GM would say it was an issue if it wasn’t? And former coach?
but what’s the evidence you have to support that last claim?A GM has one job, and that job is to o it together a competitive team. The team was sinking and something needed to be done. He saw an opportunity where two players were struggling while the team was slumping.
Sure they didn’t get a long, most locker rooms don’t when you’re not performing but it wasn’t to the degree that the media tries to spin.
Miller was the player who was forced into a six week recovery program. The guy clearly has “issues”. Great player for sure. But if his club isn’t doing well, he’s a problem. And the Rangers aren’t doing well.but what’s the evidence you have to support that last claim?
clearly JT and EP can’t be taken at their word w/r/t their relationship. they tried to tell everyone there was no problem at all between them even as they were being contradicted on that point by teammates, coaches, and Canucks FO
Their word is just as good as anyone’s in this situation. Miller himself is still claiming he told management the issue were not that big of a deal deal.but what’s the evidence you have to support that last claim?

No one is saying they didn’t have issues, they themselves said so. It’s the level at which media is making it out to beIt might not have been for him. Doesn't change that there was an issue from someone else's perspective. The GM confirmed it!

But look at who they were linked to at TDL? Byram was linked for many years, he is exactly another Chytil, same type of concussions. Norris was confirmed that they were one of the last teams in the running for his services, his shoulder's been separated more times than Palffy/Klefbom's... Fabbri is another all time favorite of our management, I believe he has Salo-itis, but mainly ACL issues.Ferland was a known issue, Benning was just that stupid (his contract wasn’t insured, that should have been a red flag that you don’t need a medical staff to confirm).
The rest, aside from Chytil, are also Benning acquisitions. Who knows if the medical staff remains the same.
Put it this way from Canucks POV...
IF JT Miller was a free agent this summer , would i be thrilled if the Canucks signed him to a 5ysr 8mil AAV deal at age 32........heck no.. thats gonna age like Milk and will handcuff the Canucks cap wise in the future.
Would the Rangers have signed him to that contract if he was UFA? + give up all the assets they did.? I guess Drury would.
