This had to be done. Period. Can't sign him for what he wants and lose him for nothing. Yes they traded picks but St. Louis is the better player. Do you want be cap strapped for years. I wonder what everyone's reaction would be if the deal was $6-6.5 million for 6 years and a no trade/movement clause instead of trading him and picks? People would be jumping off a cliff either way. You can never win.

Anyone going to mention how SOFT this team is? Are we going to address it?

Stralman to COL for McGinn.

Get some size and toughness, if you want to win. We aren't winning getting pushed around like rag dolls.

YES!! MSL is one of my all time favorite players... got his jersey and everything. I am so excited about this!!

I can not wait to see him play in a Rangers jersey. Yeah we might be giving up some first round picks but who the hell cares.... the team will be okay in the long run.

Picks are not a player like MSL... you guys are going to love him. I went to 40 games a year in Tampa and watched him. He's incredible.

So so so so happy to have him on the Rangers. :)

Hey if they get to,the finals or anything close that 1st round pick is so low you take the knows elite player to play with Lundqvist and Nash NOW...while they are prime.

This team has no time to rebuild and win during the Lundqvist era. Have a window to win now in the next few.... GO FOR IT

Lundqvist is signed for another 7 years. Do the Rangers trade Lundqvist in the next few years?

The Rangers better add some size and strength to the line-up AND get a major upgrade at center AND get an offensive D.

We've had much worse rosters and not finished bottom-10. Rangers almost never finish bottom-10.

Unless Lundqvist loses a leg in a drag-race accident, we arent finishing that low.

And even then I think we all have enough faith in Talbot to at least give us enough to keep us from collapsing.

If he were 28, I'd be thrilled. Will he be a top 10 scorer next year? The year after?

If he was 34, even, I'd be thrilled.

38?

Ugh.

We could have just given up two first round picks for a guy who won't be here in 2 years. Not a fan of that because I don't think he puts us over the top.

If we win a cup, then it was worth it. If we don't, then I think we lost this trade.

We are 3rd in the league in shots. We have implemented AVs system with little to no direction in how to complete a play and capitalize on chances. We have the pieces to score in bunches and with Hank and our D we have what t takes to win. MSL will only help glue these pieces together for us this year and next year.

Sucks about the picks going and I'll hurt watching Callahan in another sweater, but this move could be a great thing for us.

Dont mind the assets. But I dont like that the 2nd is conditional to be a 1st if we make C.F. not having a 1st three years in a row is very poor forward thinking.

Exactly what i've been saying!

SO many holes in this lineup, still unaddressed.

Team has 3, maybe 4 years before it's a basement dweller again. those picks are huge.

Get ready for the dark ages people. AV, Nash, Richards and Sather are the four horsemen as far as I'm concerned

Considering he just strong armed his team (quite dickishly, I will admit) into trading him here, I don't think hes going to leave over here money.

Yup. I can see MSL keeping the same AAV, or actually going a littler lower to help with cap space. He has no leverage, we know that he wants to finish his career here.

Agreed. One more tough guy who can actually play and contribute would be awesome.

Seems like we're all in this year and next. Better make it happen.

I feel like the draft picks by themselves could have made this trade happen. But damn giving up Callahan and the picks??? wtf??? Serious over payment.

This does nothing for this team, does not make us better.

Its easy to hate this deal when we've seen so many veterans come here and burn, but MSL is a freak of nature. Im going to enjoy his time here, which I feel will be 3-4 years of high level play. That's not guaranteed of course, but id have said the same thing a month ago when he was playing for another team. There are only a handful of players with his skill level. enjoy it
