Wow Cally was so untradeable that we needed to throw in a first to get it done! YIKES!

Oh well so long, thanks for........emmmmm ummmm yea. See ya' around.

Welcome to NY Mary St.Louis!

Does MSL make the difference over the life of the window? Why is the window always closing? Why is it ever sustained for more than a season? It's a deeper issue than just this trade. It's the entire culture of the franchise.

St. Louis is a bajillion times more likely to make the difference in the next handful of years than whoever we draft at the back end of the first round this year or next.

Who says the window is always closing? The window, as I saw it, opened about 4 years ago. It's still open. We still have a great goaltender, a great defense corps, and some quality forwards. It doesn't stay open forever though.

They scored 3 goals in games 5 and 6.

I'm looking at the body of the playoffs as a whole. Henrik isn't going to be perfect every game even on his best form.

Up and down the lineup the reason we went to 7 games the first 2 rounds was lack of scoring.

We just traded a grinder for one of the most elite playmakers in the world and people are complaining about trading a couple picks hahaha

That's the thing. We all knew it wouldn't be a Callahan for MSL swap. Something had to be added from our side to complete the transaction.

Not in love with the trade, but not against it either. I think time will tell with this one.

You mean a move where you give up a 1st and a 2nd in a different draft for a 1st line player? How many times have you seen similar trades go down and had the team collapse not long after, then take a long time to build back up again?

Or are you exaggerating?

Just a big change, could be a pure addition without any roster player moving.

Sometimes it takes some time. Often it does.

Nobody needs perfection every game. Just in the big games. Lundqvist didnt play well in the Last 3 games of the Devils series.

Here is another interesting question:

Would you rather ...

A - Sign Callahan for 6.5 x 6
B - Trade Miller or another prospect INSTEAD of the picks for MSL
C - Stand pat and not get anything for Callahan

Would I rather have kept the 2015 pick? YES OF COURSE, but I am HAPPIER we didn't sign Callahan and kept our youth and added MSL for 2 years possibly a third.

Agreed. We managed to succesfully tranfer over to a window featuring guys like
Kreider, Stepan, MZA, hags, Nash, Brass, MSL, Stralman< Staal, McD, Klein, Girardi, Lundqvist (Richards?)

from a window with guys like

Cally, Dubs, Artie, Gabs, Richards, MDZ + the D and Hank.

We kinda did just reload without losing much with guys like Miller, Fasth, lindberg, McI, very close to playing too. The pipeline, team and next few years have every reason to still be competitive and possibly championship caliber should a few things break our way. The team/franchise hasn't lost a step. The ONLY major mistep I see is the Clowe trade. That was brutally poor.

From Pierre Lebrun:

Told that Callahan camp went down even further close to $6 million a year, still north of it though, but that NMC was big issue too

From Katie Strang:

#NYR Was told the that Callahan, Rangers were within "spitting distance" as of this morning. Rangers obviously redirected efforts elsewhere

Interesting

In the short term this makes you guys very dangerous offensively..

Whats the chanches Cally comes back to NYR as a free agent?

good, objective point.

Agreed completely, Shin.

I agree. If the 2014 2nd becomes a 1st, then that means TBL got a great return, but it also means we made the Conference Finals or better.

This is a win now team. You hope those picks don't turn out to be mega stars, but Tampa is also hoping the opposite. If Cally doesn't resign and they draft the next Jessiman and Bobby Sanguenetti, it's a bust for them right?

Bottom line is we just got the defending Art Ross winner who doesn't appear to be slowing down. We have him for a year and half and we got him for picks and a beloved player who happens to be a glorified shot blocker. I call that a win for now.

Also, you have to believe that Sather knowing he basically got one of the top scorers in the league for a 2-3 year window will now try and grab a center and PMD to put this team closer to the top of the league.
