Does MSL make the difference over the life of the window? Why is the window always closing? Why is it ever sustained for more than a season? It's a deeper issue than just this trade. It's the entire culture of the franchise.
They scored 3 goals in games 5 and 6.
We just traded a grinder for one of the most elite playmakers in the world and people are complaining about trading a couple picks hahaha
You mean a move where you give up a 1st and a 2nd in a different draft for a 1st line player? How many times have you seen similar trades go down and had the team collapse not long after, then take a long time to build back up again?
Or are you exaggerating?
You mean like Detroit?
I'm looking at the body of the playoffs as a whole. Henrik isn't going to be perfect every game even on his best form.
Up and down the lineup the reason we went to 7 games the first 2 rounds was lack of scoring.
St. Louis is a bajillion times more likely to make the difference in the next handful of years than whoever we draft at the back end of the first round this year or next.
Who says the window is always closing? The window, as I saw it, opened about 4 years ago. It's still open. We still have a great goaltender, a great defense corps, and some quality forwards. It doesn't stay open forever though.
whats the condition on tb's end?
Room silent after trade***.
But brad richards with the fist pump when no one is looking***
Told that Callahan camp went down even further close to $6 million a year, still north of it though, but that NMC was big issue too
#NYR Was told the that Callahan, Rangers were within "spitting distance" as of this morning. Rangers obviously redirected efforts elsewhere
Here is another interesting question:
Would you rather ...
A - Sign Callahan for 6.5 x 6
B - Trade Miller or another prospect INSTEAD of the picks for MSL
C - Stand pat and not get anything for Callahan
Would I rather have kept the 2015 pick? YES OF COURSE, but I am HAPPIER we didn't sign Callahan and kept our youth and added MSL for 2 years possibly a third.
Agreed. We managed to succesfully tranfer over to a window featuring guys like
Kreider, Stepan, MZA, Nash, Brass, MSL, Stralman< Staal, McD, Klein, Girardi, Lundqvist (Richards?)
from a window with guys like
Cally, Dubs, Artie, Gabs, Richards, MDZ + the D and Hank.
We kinda did just reload without losing much with guys like Miller, Fasth, lindberg, McI, very close to playing too.
That's the thing. We all knew it wouldn't be a Callahan for MSL swap. Something had to be added from our side to complete the transaction.
Not in love with the trade, but not against it either. I think time will tell with this one.

Interesting
In the short term this makes you guys very dangerous offensively..
Whats the chanches Cally comes back to NYR as a free agent?
