LOOK AT WHAT YOU PEOPLE HAVE DONE.

This is what you wanted.

I'm done. ****ing done. Just, I don't know. I'll start watching Tampa games too, I guess.

Sather has dismantled everything that was good about this team. I'm just hoping he chokes on a cigar at this point.

My point is not that trading Callahan was a bad idea given his demands, but not for a player whos 38 and does not solve any of the Rangers biggest issues while giving up potentially two 1sts.

If this was a trade for Getzlaf? Evander Kane? Sell the farm I don't care, but St Louis is not taking us to the finals.

Like finishing a play and scoring?

This franchise really never ceases to amaze me.

Why is it that the window always seems to be "now" (and closing)? Yet at the same time, never "now"?

The Rangers had their best season in 15 years by building a core. Only to rip the entire house to the ground, grasping at shiny things.

I'm sorry, but unless we win a cup with MSL here, this is an abject failure, and I don't see us winning a cup any time soon.

If we had kept our picks and never won the cup that'd been the same exact level of failure then. I don't think that's how you evaluate any single individual move or trade. I do understand that with MSL age and our likely distance from the cup that this is likely a risk/trade we shouldn't have made. But I'm not THAT horrifically upset over a 1st round pick that (barring a Lundqvist injury) is likely in the 20's anyway next year

Your captain would have been lost for nothing if this deal doesn't happen. he is a rental because his demands are ridiculous. MSL wanted to be here; he will have an immediate positive impact cause he's a great player. As for how long he plays, we'll see. He may go for 4 or 5 based on his durability and health. If we capture a cup in those years, it will be worth it. I'm more bothered by the picks then Cally.

Bingo. Exactly. Marty could give us 4-5 years and, with how well he's still playing and Hank's age, that's the new window. This year probably isn't the year, but we now build on this, hopefully with urgency, and we have a few years to capture the Cup, which makes this completely worth it.

Trading a UFA for an Art Ross winner is dismantling the team.

Pls, look at this without bias. Complain about tyhe picks, fine. But the main thing you're concerned about is moving Callahan for an elite player???

.

Rangers biggest issue was putting pucks in the net. Tell me, how is MSL not addressing that issue?

@KevinWeekes: I'm told from @NYRangers that they're sending their Jet to get St.Louis,so yes Rangers' Fans,he should be in lineup tonight.

Good stat MT @SportsnetTicker last #Rangers captain traded was Mark Messier in 2003 to Sharks for a 4th Rd pick. Pick became...Ryan Callahan

You dont keep 1st rounders to hope they develop into stars. You stockpile assets and sell them high to acquire franchise-level talent who wouldn't be available to you at the draft.

I would rather have traded the 2014 and 2015 firsts for a guy who's younger and under contract.

We also dint have a 3rd from the Nash trade.

No assets.

Really annoyed we gave up a 1st.

Cally annoyed me this year, but I'll always love and miss him. Best of luck in Tampa.

But........****ing Martin St. Louis, one of the best players in the world. Can't be ignored.

Grow up.

He is not worth $6 million.

It often takes a long time to build a team after a move like this.

Will we make the POs this season?

As far as I am concerned, Callahan signed his exit by bickering over a few hundred grand. Good luck in the future, Ryan, but remember that it was your choice.

I really don't like adding MST to this team. He's age offsets any concerns that surrounded Callahan about his long-term health had he signed a lengthy deal with the NYR. I had hopes after they came to an agreement with Girardi, that Cally would follow suit. Everybody in the league that I've listened to had the same consensus about Cally--he's asking for crazy money for the game he plays. The $6 mil a year was goal scorer money not grind your heart out/possibly get injured money. I'm a little made he didn't come down on his $$ requested.

I'll give Marty and cally 2-3 seasons before theire both broken down..

I both like and dislike the trade..

You look to Europe and the NCAA UFA's to try to make up the difference in prospects.

Greg Carey
Trevor Van Riemsdyk
and a myriad of other guys.

NYR landed Zuccarello and Girardi as un-drafteds, and many of the homegrown guys on this roster were drafted in the 4th, 6th, 7th rounds.

My only concern is that we miss the playoff this year. Beyond that we got a star player and have more moves to come, presumably moving Boyle for a 2nd.

St. Louis becomes the leading point scorer by the Rangers by 27 points and he hasn't even played a game for them

Scoring was the issue when we acquired Brad Richards. Scoring was the issue when we acquired Rick Nash. Scoring was the issue when we acquired Martin St Louis. Scoring will be the issue when we acquire ____.

1 player is not changing that. Like Ola mentioned where is the puck moving D-man, where is the size and toughness to create offense in the playoffs?

well think about this...what if cally goes into UFA this summer and get this....he signs with the Rangers:sarcasm:

In the salary cap world, you need a steady stream of young talent to replace older, higher priced players. Without those picks, and the picks we gave up for Clowe, and the pick we gave up for Nash, where are these young players coming from?

Yeah, the draft is a crap shoot, but the more picks you have, the better your chances of selecting good young talent. And conversely, with less picks, the less chance we have.

So again, where are these young players coming from? Are we hanging all of our hopes on Duclair, Kristo, Fast and Lindberg? Or are we going to go back to signing the biggest free agent every year?

Nash hasn't been great for us. He isn't a difference maker. Clowe did nothing for us. What exactly do you expect to get out of MSL besides some slightly more entertaining hockey for the next couple years?

I'm sorry, but unless we win a cup with MSL here, this is an abject failure, and I don't see us winning a cup any time soon.

The picks that we gave up--assuming they turn into good NHL players, which is a big assumption--when would they be ready to help us win the Cup? Four years? Five years? And what does the team look like then? Is Lundqvist still elite? Richards is probably gone. Is Staal around? How is Nash performing? Is Girardi almost done? We could draft a great player with that first in 2015, but would there be a good team left for him to help?

Say we recoup a second or third round pick for Boyle. We're out a first round pick. That sucks. Is it the difference between a successful future and one where we're cellar dwellers? Does one prospect make the difference?
