I’m curious why people think Mikkola is going to be a difficult re-sign. His point totals are very low. His underlying stats are okay, not great. He’s 26. If he fits well, why wouldn’t the take a 2-year deal on a contender to play good minutes in NY? Based on what I’m seeing, $1.3-1.5m would be his market. What am I missing?
You can add Mikkola to the list - right now - of “Players Rangers Traded For And Instantly Sucked Into The Sunset.”

TBL 5 - Col - 0

They scare me
Why? We went 6 gamea with them last year and they are worse this year without palat and mcd.

And colorado isnt colorado because of injuries as well as losing kadri and bura.

Neither scare me like last year.

The only elite team where I wouldn’t have confidence in playing is Boston. Not saying that we would def beat TBL or NjD etc, but i have confidence that we can beat them and i dont view us as underdogs to any of them. Equals yes, underdogs no.

Boston is the only team that we would be true underdogs against.

He signed a 1 year deal for 1.9 mil last summer and will be a UFA. If he has a good playoffs and we want him back, there's a good chance he gets at least that much, if not more, on his next contract. If he's not worth that much, then we probably don't want him back anyway.

And even at 1.3-1.5, that might be too much. Let's see how he plays and if we can get more important players signed before we worry about re-signing him.

Hard to believe losing Strome has possibly made this PP worse, and I'm not even one of those fans that hated Strome.

Hopefully, Tarasenko helps boost up this PP, it has the talent to be a lot better.
I didnt want to resign strome.

But he is much better passer and playmaker than trocheck. Also better at handling the puck. He just meshed really well with panarin too.

Trocheck just doesnt seem to mesh with this unit as well. Different style of game.

We joked about this one earlier in the week. Basically after much of what he wrote was the prior days worth of Roster Building thread here on HF. But...It happened. They moved on from Kane and they did indeed get Tarasenko.

The last piece though was interesting. Jeannot. Did Larry and Slats have a chat? Preds scouted the Rangers game vs the Flames. Vince posted about it. I'd bet if we did enough digging the Rangers probably scouted the Preds.

But the guy I would target, ahead of any of these options, is Nashville’s 25-year-old physical winger, Tanner Jeannot, a pending restricted free agent who will come with arbitration rights off an expiring contract worth an AAV of $800,000.

The Rangers’ cap situation next season makes it extremely difficult to trade for anyone with term on his contract, but this is an exception worth making. Jeannot is tough, he can play, he is a straight-line forechecker and net-driver and he would instantly make the Rangers a more formidable playoff opponent.

Jeannot may not be readily available, but as a bottom six that has 13 points (5-8) in 48 games following a 41-point (24-17) 2021-22, there must be an affordable price for him. How about Vitali Kravtsov in a one-for-one that would represent an exchange of styles? I envision Jeannot as part of the core. I do not envision that with Kravtsov. I envision this as a worthwhile conversation.

If we get Jeannot for Krat, this is an A+ deadline for Drury

Lol @ thinking PP1 is worse because it's missing Strome.

This is why PP1 is worse:

Maybe, but they are real cap issues. Like i just dont see how they are adding a big piece even with retention if they dont get rid of salary too.

So in short. They probably arent getting a big piece.

Devs and carolina on the other hand…..

Can you tell me how many rings we have in the last 75 years ?

Can you tell me how many finals you’ve seen us. In ?

I’ve seen 3 …one cup

Smith dealt two HOF players ( imo ) for the Cup.

Get it done Drury - whatever it takes - we need an advantage over Cooper for once in our pathetic lives .

Satire my ass - tell me where you disagree .

So what you are saying is you want to abolish the cap, deal all of our futures for one cup run that may not even guarantee a cup, and yet you seem mad at Neil Smith for doing just that when it did get us the cup.

Did I get that right?

Wait until the playoffs. I think his game is better suited for that

Which players are you interested in replacing now? As far as I can see the roster is pretty full and the lineup very well balanced.
Regardless of the market, which players now do you wish to see replaced?

I tend to agree. But i still dont think he meshes well with panarin and co.

I do like him with kreider though at ES. Hopefully Krav can get a look at RW there or gaut. Goody needs to go to 4c if only to get rid of leschysntyndhdneh

since we've been dealing with the Blues what would Noel Acciari cost?

We could do better
could be a decent 4th line center. I have only watched a handful of Blues games this year but he has 18 points on that team and only a minus 3. that's pretty decent. Playoff numbers are not great but just a thought if it's for very little. 1.25 million cap hit.

I wouldn’t be against bumping Trocheck for Tank on PP1. Why not. You went out and spent a first on the guy. Go ahead and send it

Start Tarasenko in the bumper spot and see what happens. If it’s shit then switch him and Mika and see what happens.

But I think if he can slide up into the slot a tad having to respect Tanks shot will open up some options for Mika, either down low back door to Kreider, over to Tank on his forehand or take what they give you with the one timer.

We see a lot of rebounds off Mika’s shot that a righty can’t always get to, so if Tank is moving through the slot on his forehand that’s a good place to have him.

Kreider is smart enough to play off both posts so he could easily slide to the other side if Mika controls and you could bang bang into the bumper on Tanks forehand as well.

There’s too many guys to respect and that’s the idea 5 on 4.

His numbers are Barbashev esque.

Not that you need to be a big producer in his role but you have to give something.

Lafferty is still my target for that role.
