Was thinking along these lines as well. Thought Fox could stay out the full two mins as well. I don’t think that’s as big a worry as people make it out to be. But if not Fox, Miller.
Honestly, it is excruciatingly painful to watch PP1 try to get in the zone with control unless its Shesterkin jumping the opposing teams change with a stretch pass for a free entry. Trocheck winning that first FACEOFF is often the only reason they score because they'll maintain that first possession and score off it.

That said, its equally as painful watching Trouba quarterback PP2. Love when he leads and keeps his game simple and defensive, but he's just not a pp guy. I would argue both Miller and Schneider are better options if GG won't use Fox for full 2 (he won't, even if he should occasionally).

There is absolutely nothing to not like about this move. I said it the other day Tarasenko is actually the much better fit and getting a solid LD is just fillling our two big holes. We are ready to roll

Having said that I think we still add one more piece for the 4th line.

Guys on paper this is the best team we’ve had since we won a Stanley Cup in 94. Has everything imo. Will we win? No clue. But this lineup with the kids going like they are and Trocheck solidifying the middle of the ice is the best team in 30 years

The lines are starting to fit together like the 2014 Rangers. Star power in the top 6 with a deadly 3rd line. Our 4th line needs an add but it has real potential with Goodrow and Cuylle on the wings.

But not do all the moves the poster I replied to was advocating
I didn't see the post. I must have him blocked.

Cuylle was sent to Hartford. I don't think we see him again this year.

I don't even know where to start with this and I'm one of the BIGGEST advocates for not stockpiling draft picks....

It just seems like you hate being a Rangers fan and can't be positive about anything. I have a hunch if Drury swung for the fences last year in a season where we were outperforming expectations and went on a playoff run ahead of schedule BECAUSE Drury made the smart, cost efficient, roster bolstering moves, you would've been one of the first to complain because hes "going for it" when he shouldn't.

2015 our deadline addition was Keith Yandle, who we had for another season following too. We ALSO had St. Louis who was the big swing in 2014 and had another year left. You can't say Sather didn't go for it as much as he could when he emptied essentially being the cause of "The Letter" ever happening.

I totally agree, keyboard warriors and bloggers value 1st rounders WAY too much, and should take example of Tampa trading 1sts for Hagel and Goodrow (players that aren't regularly worth 1st rounders), only for it topay off because they were worried about the Cup - NOT having the best prospect pool every year for 100 years.

K'Andre Miller, Schneider, Chytil, Laf, Kakko, Cuylle, Othmann (next year), Sykora (2-3 years). For every miss (see: Andersson, Kravtsov) we've had a pick hit. This is our core. We did our job with our 1st and 2nd round picks over the last 4-6 years. This is where the value comes in 1st round picks.

But when you have the mix of you 1st rounders on cheap contracts while still producing, elite stars (Panarin, Zibanejad, Fox), and a Vezina winning goalie, as well as the cap space and an extra 1st rounder, in no scenario is not making a move like this acceptable.

That said, for you to say this is a half swing from Drury when the team called it in on Blais (admitting defeat on Buch trade), FINALLY waived Hajel, acquired a top 6 shooting wing AND a 3rd pair defenseman (filling both our glaring needs), you absolutely cannot say Drury didn't fully swing.

This was craftsmanship by Drury, kept all our major assets while taking a massive swing AND allowing himself to potentially make 1 or 2 more small moves come deadline day. This team this year is 29-14-8 without having played their best hockey yet and just added a top 6 scoring winger and shored up the defense in the SAME DEAL without surrendering any top assets (I don't consider the lesser 1st a top asset, more of a surplus asset).

This rant got away from me but essentially in conclusion: I'm not disagreeing that Drury should be going for it last year, this year, and likely the next 2-3 years too with out young core, prospects still to come supplement and our prime veteran top end players....but to say Drury didn't just give this group a MASSIVE shot in the arm and showed his confidence in them to get it done is not giving the man enough credit.
Just enjoy being a Ranger fan and don't be miserable about every move. Hockey should be fun, especially when your favorite team is winning.
Wrong

I never said it was a half swing… I said it’s a start rewind yourself and go back and reread.

He has 22 days three weeks to add another significant piece one that puts us over the top. Maybe it’s two - 3 .

Maybe it’s Tyler motte and Mila Lucic.

However, as currently constructed
I don’t see us beating Tampa Bay, or Boston or maybe even New Jersey.

I think Cuylle should stay in the minors getting 15+ minutes a game and playing in all situations. We can still pick up another solid 4th line pk'er to pair with Goodrow

If Tank is not on PP1 for Trocheck's sake, then I think he replaces Goodrow on PP2, and geez are the kids and Miller gonna get a boost from that. And it also gives Gallant the threat of a short leash for PP1 if they struggle.

Also, we can expect the fourth line to be Vesey - Leschyshyn - Gauthier with Goodrow staying with Kreider and Trocheck?

As currently constructed we could beat anyone….how does anybody not see that…

Since when does PP1 have problems gaining the zone? How have we been elite at getting scoring chances on the PP? Is Trocheck at 100% on PP faceoffs or something?

The PP was maybe 1% of the consideration of this trade. We have an elite PP1 that is gonna be ridden like Seabiscuit in the playoffs.

Okay well I digress I jumped the gun if you consider another signifciant piece to be Tyler Motte. I assumed that by big move you meant another blockbuster (which is unreasonable and unworkable with cap).

I don't think many would consider a mid round pick for a Tyler Motte (or two players like him) to be a quote on quote "another significant piece", but if you do, then I absolutely agree.

I think the team may even be best served adding a 3RW allowing them to run a Cuylle/Motte/X-Goodrow-Vesey 4L.

The two additions being the 3RW and maybe a veteran replacement (like Motte) on 4LW

Because we barely beat Calgary &
Vancouver just this week .

And because our coach isn’t exactly Al Arbor .
There are 7 games playing right now. They are all barely being won, lost or tied except Colorado is getting pumped by Tampa. Should Colorado sell? Should Gary wheel out and hand Tampa the cup. Or should we play out 4 rounds of playoffs and see what happens in the most high variance of tournaments in pro sports?

Yes it was predominantly to shore up 1RW. But Tarasenko is a PP1 fire and ready for PP1 anytime Gallant makes the move.

No we barely beat Vancouver….pack it in, hand the cup to the bruins, Oo wait they’ve started losing, hand the cup to the devils, Oo wait they are charmin soft with a sub par goalie

Shit now I don’t know what to do

I trust Gallant. No need to tinker. Mika is the ultimate weapon in his circle. Tarasenko one time threat isn't worth sacrificing Mika threat.

You forget Panarin runs the show.

Tank will be on the PP eventually

He’ll be back. Go to AHL for a month to work on things after the cup of coffee. He has NHL toughness and we will need it. Goodrow is a good guy to learn from on the 4th line
