We are definitely in a position when it comes to being a potential contender. I guess the argument usually is "don't spend a 1st on a rental", and that I mostly agree with. That said, for this package giving up a first is just fine, especially considering we had two 1sts and will retain the better pick. This was always going to be ammo for Drury at this deadline, unless the team would be out of the playoffs by now.

Mikkola has had a rough year but the blues are a mess this season. He's going to be a massive upgrade on Harpur, like huge upgrade.

Very excited to see Tarasenko on a line with Panarin. Tank was great last year with Robert Thomas who is a similar style player to Panarin with his shiftiness and crazy passing. Plus they're like best friends so hopefully there's some instant chemistry and good vibes.

I don't see how anyone can bitch about this trade...we upgrade Vesey on the top line significantly and Harpur. We get Goodrow to the 4th line and leshitshow and Blais out of the lineup.Its a big win all around
