People going on about this like Tarasenko is a 70-80 point player.

He's on pace for like, what, a 52 point season this year? 62 if he was healthy?

For a guy we have no hope of re-signing.
Playing with everyone else who's been shitty

It really comes down to how you feel about the first rounder.

Blais, a 4th and Skinner are absolutely nothing.

Hopefully it’s the worst of our two picks, chances are probably pretty good us or Dallas make at least the conference final.

On the flip side, he's a known playoff performer. 41 goals in 90 games.

I really don't like Mikkola. hes an upgrade on Harpur but we realllllyy needed a defenseman that could move the puck for that pair, and he's probably the worst offensive defenseman in the league.

I like this.

Price was less than I thought.

Mikkola has to be the worst offensive player in the league but he can keep his head above water defensively. It's an upgrade.

This was good for us.
as long as he's an upgrade which I think he is. We just need someone to be decent at 6D.

Yeah that’s pretty much the exact value of a 1st.

1 valuable asset for 2 major upgrades

There was a lot at play here

For starters, I think the timing was right. Drury struck this deal now and not when the bidding got out of hand. He knew Meier wouldnt work out, so he got the best deal he could and got it out of the way.

The important thing is the retained salary and the fact that Tank approved the deal. Both of those things evened out the value.

In essence the only thing of value the Rangers really moved was the 1st round pick. Blais is cooked. If he winds up getting it back, good on him but the Rangers have kids waiting that will easily fill his spot. Skinner is a throw away who would have never made this team and a 4th is just a cherry. You waive Hajek, so what.

So it becomes a 1st for Tank and Mikko. Both likely rentals.

Given how tight the cap is, and the talent out there thats available, this isnt terrible at all. I really wanted to keep both firsts but who are we kidding. At least none of the young roster players, including Kravstov went the other way.

Bonus that Bread and Tank are buds. This could have a doubling effect

If lower means later in the round, versus lower number (and therefore higher in the draft), I like this better

He had 35 goals last year and almost a point per game. He had an injury and wanted out from the Blues. If he is healthy (I have no idea if he is) then the trade could spark him pretty good.
He's worth a 1st especially with salary being retained.

You can not agree with it but the Rangers are trying to find a way to make cup runs, not hoard resources. Trade is perfectly fine for a team hoping that this might push them into contender status (and it indeed might with the way the Chytil line has been playing and the depth this gives them with the 3rd line as it is).

I like that 1st condition. Would love to pick in the top 25 if Dallas slips.
