Slightly overpaid IMO, but he is the kind of player you overpay. But for the love of god people, don't get hysterical when he scores less than 40 points due to lack of PP1 time (DeAngelo and Shattenkirk are way better PPQBs than Trouba).

For the good of the team, I really hope this is accurate & he can build up some trade value. But the reality is Shattenkirk hasn't been better than Trouba (or many players) at anything for quite some time.

Really don’t understand the appeal of knowing that a visit to the main will be aggravating but still going , getting aggravated and coming here to report it. We know.

A visit to the main boards wasn't "aggravating" not too long ago. After "the letter" was released the tone was MUCH much different than it has been since it had been known the Rangers would get Trouba and then "stole" Panarin away from the Isles.

This is a very young team and they are still rebuilding despite the Trouba's and Panarin's signings, yet here we are back to the "the Rangers just buy everyone" narrative.

Not sure if you were directing your comment at me personally but I assume you were seeing that I left that sort of "report back" on here.
Regardless of who you were addressing, I'm not as aggravated but more amused at the hypocrisy especially in regards to Trouba. It's noteworthy that every time a highly regarded player hits free agency, the whole league is salivating those players, yet if the Rangers sign any of those players, those same players suddenly turn into "overrated". I've seen comments about both Trouba AND Panarin, not being worth "all that money" even though they both took somewhat of a pay cut all things considered.

I find humor in that and felt I could express myself on this here message board. If you don't find humor in it and it just aggravates you reading it, by all means just ignore my post and the main boards.
I'll continue reading the rants with a smirk on my face.

I think he got overpaid by about a million, but I still take a 25 year old Trouba over a 29 year old Karlsson making 11.5 mil anyday

I wouldn't be surprised if he never put up 50 points again though with how little PP time he will probably get here. DeAngelo is already a better set up man and if Fox is as advertised he will probably take the second spot sooner than later.

Wasn’t directed at you - you’re far from the only one who looks in or even participate in main board discussions.

I find it aggravating reading posts that are intellectually insulting. On our board I have an option of blocking posts or, knowing the lay of the land, I could simply not put much weight in certain opinions. The main board doesn’t provide these protections.

Genuinely curious if putting certain users on the ignore list is useless when reading the main boards.
I could have sworn that I've blocked users on the main board before and I now don't see their posts and asinine opinions pop up.

Regardless, I understand where you are coming from with feeling aggravated when reading posts that are flat out stupid. I just try not to put much worth into people's opinion that have proven to blatantly ignore facts and seemingly let their bias and lack of knowledge get in the way of forming a well thought out post.

Jesus who cares what a bunch of tards think of the Rangers. The next post I read there that's well thought out and balanced will be the first.... in weeks.

Everyone is so biased and agenda driven it's kind of pathetic. It's no different than the prospect section with one outcast in particular I am thinking of.

Going to the main boards is like the old Chris Rock joke..... Grand Opening /Grand Closing.

If you go there to watch a car crash than that's a different animal.

This is how I'd lay out the PP units

Kakko

Zibby Chytil Buchnevich

DeAngelo

Kreider (if kept, Andersson maybe otherwise?)

Panarin Strome Kravtsov

Trouba

With Fox eventually stepping in somewhere and without Shattenkirk getting any time at all. Two balanced PP units that can put the puck in the net.

The oddest thing.

Those draft picks usually turn out to be good players suck as Kravtsov, Chytil and Howden

So yeah, I like draft picks
You know what he's talking about, or should know. Some of the proposals you see across HF will trade a third of a team, a bunch of good players, for basically no reason other than to acquire a bunch of picks and prospects. And then three years later those same posters are trading those prospects for more prospects and picks because that's what's exciting. You don't build a winning team without some established players, and yet for quite a few people at HF the ideal team is an average of 22 years old with everyone picked in round one or two.

We all like picks and prospects. Some people overemphasize it. They're Peter Griffin--"You can have this boat, or you can have the mystery box! It could be anything, even a boat!"

I would argue that they dont usually turn into that calibre of a player. I am not against rebuilding and in fact was pro tank. My argument is that some people value cap space and a mid to late first over a trouba at 8 million. I would take the young in their prime established player over the hope for futures to maybe turn into that same level of player. I feel some are always wanting prospects because of shiny new toy syndrome.

Yes. You explained it better than I could. Thank you.

I think so too. A lot of people penciling in Trouba for PP1 but I think DeAngelo if he stays on the team and Fox if he is as advertised will eventually take most of the PP time.

Because the salary cap crunch caused by these useless contracts is forcing the Rangers to trade Chris Kreider or some other competitive players when they're trying to compete for a Cup while Henrik is still playing. Is that too hard to understand?
Again, it’s not forcing them to do anything. That’s your opinion the fact of the matter is that the Rangers could take a prospect and a mid round pick and rid of one of those contracts whenever they please. There’s multiple lanes moving forward. If they trade Kreider it’s not because they’re being “forced to” like they can’t find money or a way to make it work but because it’s the most beneficial route for the franchise. Chris May be an unfortunate victim of circumstances and timing. If he hadn’t had the health issues and inconsistencies he would already have his contract and NMC.

If CK wants he can easily stay here and be that middle six, front-of-the-net-presence on the PP and gamble on a Cup here instead of a pay day by taking a hometown discount. I’d say if he really wants to stay here instead of cash in then he should consider being 30-33 and making $5.5 mil a year while not uprooting his family and getting to be a great role model and support player for the next core.

If not? Then business is business and I’m sure like most players the Rangers will yet and help take care of that player up until he’s gone.

The Rangers being haunted by contracts when they could easily get rid of one and there is cap flexibility is a false narrative. People are so hyperbolic on here. I mean cmon, get your head out of the sand.

Guys the Pp1 will run thru panarin who will replace Zibanejad in that spot. That bugs me a bit but I’ll assume they’ll move Mika to the other side (this was always my concern for Mika’s pp oops). Trouba isn’t really a QB he’s got a heavy shot and will give us that option at the top of the key. Panarin will be the real QB.

Put Panarin on the right half wall and let him set up for Zbad for perfect one timers. He’s just as lethal in that spot as he is on the left halfwall.

But, Panarin moves around a LOT on the PP. You could say that his main spot in CBJ was that left halfwall, but he doesn’t just hang out there.
