Boy was he a let down.
At least the Rangers were able to get Roger Ebert’s brother back in the swap.
The Rangers’ bus Netflix playlist, will now be professionally curated.

What are you scared of?
We've weakened our team for no reason.
Has to be a requested trade. Was moved to the 4th line last game, was never considered at a C spot when he has play it. Not being used on the PP.
Have to think the Rangers were more than willing too. Think they want to give Lemieux a shot on that 3rd line, McKegg can go to the 4th line.
The curious thing is that he has more skill than his potential replacements and now the 4th line is Smith and either McKegg or Haley with Andersson. Not the best spot for developing him.
Don't think there are really any free agents they could go get. One would be Brian Boyle. Fills a need at center and would be another mentor. If they make this move you could even look at a trade come February if they are out of it.
Worst trade in NHL history, Ottawa just got revenge for the Zibanejad trade
He wasn’t acquired for JT MillerBought out Shattenkirk instead of making him the 6/7 D to rotate with Deangelo/Fox to trade Namestnikov (who should've never been acquired for J.T. Miller in the first place) two games into the season.
I like what JG is doing, but this is a big loss. No other way to spin it.

Even with this trade, someone would have needed to be bought out.
They tried pretty hard to move him in the offseason. Teams generally don’t trade for depth in the offseason because why not sign a cheap guy or let your prospects try and take the roleThis is kind of how I feel. The time to move Namestnikov was in the off-season when they were figuring out how to get under the cap. At this point just hang on to him?
