They really didn't want to try Namestnikov at 2C.

I'm fine with it if this means room for Chytil or Kravtsov. Not okay if it means more ice time for Haley.

Exactly. We couldn’t scratch Haley to make room for Chytil? Namestnikov is a viable middle six forward. Nothing special, but even just one hot stretch this year and as an expiring contract at the deadline I’d assume we could do better than a 4th. Oh well.

Probably Mckegg on the 4th line and Lemieux on ther 3rd line.

Yeah unless he requested to be moved immediately, this one doesn’t make sense for me

Unless they’re planning to bank a ton of cap space for the deadline to go and get a big fish for a playoff run.

I also don’t think it means Kravtsov is coming up, more likely McKegg gets to play

Excellerent Salary Dump by Gorts NYR only pays $750K of $4M. They needed some cap flexibility and Vlad was a casualty.

I don't really get the point nor why this was done now and couldn't be done in the offseason but I supposed it serves the purpose of freeing up about 2.5M of cap space to accrue throughout the year while giving a younger player a chance to get a spot in the lineup (until it's just Haley or playoff stud McKegg). Pretty surprised OTT is adding salary though. Would have much rather traded Strome but it's quite possile nobody actually wants him.

I think during the offseason teams believe they can fill spots with rookies (and I doubt Ottawa signed anyone to be the fallback option), then the season starts and those rookies aren’t as ready as they thought they were

Well that is an underwhelming return but I guess its good to dump that salary.

Chytil back up. Kravtsov has a lot of adjustment to do.
