Lafreniere, Schneider and Kakko aren't getting traded. All are important parts of the team going forward. I don't think either Othmann or Cuylle are available.

Available pieces are Lundkvist, Jones, Robertson, Chytil, Barron, Gauthier, 1st, NYR 2nd, St. Louis 2nd. And other lesser players, prospects and picks.
If those are the available pieces then dont target players like Miller. Maybe target lesser players like Boeser. I would trade Boser for Lundkvist and a 1st.

It is always HF that values 1st round picks more than any other forum, websites, etc. Last year 12 1st rounders were traded. I will guess more easily will be moved at the deadline and a couple more after that around the entry draft.

Most teams that have a realistic chance to move from one round to the next will want to add a player that might move the needle even slightly. That move is usually 4 spots in draft pick position....the farther you advance the more worthless that 1st becomes.

A 20th-32nd overall pick means nothing, absolutely nothing to a team that thinks it can win a Cup the present year or the next 2-3 as that pick has virtually no chance of contributing the franchise. Here though? These picks are considered guaranteed sure-fire chances of becoming intergenerfranchisal pieces that shouldn't be moved at all, for anyone.

Just wait til the cap eases up. First round picks will be getting tossed around like crazy.

Sheesh Rangers fans want to give up
nothing for value whatsoever. You have to give to get folks, you aren’t getting top 15 forwards or top 4 defencemen for 3rd round picks and busting prospects lol.

We don't want Chiarot at all, and we don't want Miller at the proposed price. If we don't get either as a result, we are perfectly fine with it. Yes, you have to give to get, but there's also such as thing as considering the price too high and not being willing to pay it. That's where we are at in regards to Miller. We aren't going to pay what you want. Get over it.

I'm personally not targeting Miller. I'm telling you what is available for Miller. If that isn't to your liking, then there's no deal to be made. Move on.

I haven’t heard too many Ranger fans pining for Miller. It’s more Canuck fans telling us we need him and that he’s an elite top line forward. They then demand Schneider. Ranger fans decline. Canuck fans then go off the rails saying Ranger fans don’t want to move anything of value when we didn’t start the conversation to begin with.

The 1st round pick is a valuable asset. If they plan to use it as currency then they have much bigger needs at forward. They have gaping holes at RW and C. Using a 1st on Chariot doesn’t solve that issue.

this is an under-rated comment. the holes at forward are much larger than the need for another defenseman. it would be a waste of assets.

Miller is slowly coming off the table because the Canucks are within striking distance of a playoff spot.
Don't expect him to be available at the deadline if the Canucks win the majority of their next few games.

Doubtful. We'll see.

Just out of curiosity what makes you so doubtful? We have seen in very recent past that Dmen not as good as Chiarot get a 1st +. We have also heard multiple insiders say they won't have a problem getting a 1st +.

Why the doubt? Is it just you dont want your team to pay that price? Do you not think he is worth it?

He was playing at a higher level then Chiarot when traded.

Really? Chiarot currently has more goals than Savard had points at last year's trade deadline, chairot is playing 3 more minutes a night, Has the same +/- (Habs are a worse team than the CBJ last year) better relative corsi to his team, and has about the same amount of hits per game.

By what metric was Savard better than Chiarot is this year?

them being on your team doesnt make you any sort of authority. and not comparing them to each other this season anyways.

Please see my most recent post about last year's Savard to this year chiarot. Also watching them more than anyone would in the eyes of many give me a better idea of who has played better this year relative to other fans no?

His playoff performance was playing alongside Weber. He also takes a lot of penalties, and even more so in the playoffs.

Any dman we add will be playing on the 3rd pair with Schneider, and possibly PK time. Fox and Lindgren have been paired together since Lindgren came up, and Trouba and Miller have been paired together since early last year. I don't see either pair getting broken up, and I don't see Schneider, no matter who he is paired with, getting more time than the other 4 (barring injury), given that he's a rookie who has played all of 17 games so far.

You're trying to upsell us when all we need is a 3rd pair guy who can eat some minutes and play on the PK.

Well Chiarot and Weber definitely complemented each other well like any pairing does

If you're looking for someone who can play on the 3rd pair that can eat some big minutes and play on the PK, you got him.

I don't remember a time where the Rangers weren't interested in a major free agent or most high end trades. Been that way for 20+ years. They've been shelling out for them for quite a while and it rarely seems to get them anywhere.
