I think Drury is of the same general philosophy as the two departed and will handle things much the same way. I wouldn't expect any crazy shit. If Drury thought he was going to be forced into crazy shit he could find a job elsewhere rather easily.

I think I am more frustrated Gorton and even more so JD were not given more time. They are both highly respected around the league. And I felt JD was brought in as a checks and balances system to JG for this rebuild so there wasn’t one man in charge of all the decision making that is at stake. Now we are back to one man...for now.

Also, I am not that worried about who we hire, because as long as it’s someone established there can’t be any issue on how to play etc.

Someone just not getting it like DQ can talk about N-S or E-W, facts are that the Islanders besides 4 forwards is an extreme E-W team — compared to how the game was played 10-15 years ago. They make a ton of plays regularly that would have been unthinkable under many many coaches back then. Barzal, Bailey, Eberle, Nelson, JGP, Beauvillier and so forth. You just must play that way well.

Ok, with Drury as well, worried that Quinn has survived to this point.

can't wait to watch Kakko light it up as a top forward in the league and puck dominant stud for some other team while the over the hill jerkass the rangers traded him for gets bought out

I think those three "efforts" vs. the crosstown rival pushed the puck over the goal line. Those losses, the way they lost, to THAT team lit a fire under Dolan's ass. Way too impulsive for my tastes but I'm certain that was a factor.

ya know I think Quinn was on the hot seat regardless (maybe given a shot to get started on next season and if it went south he was gone) of all this but yeah feels lik ethe only reason he wasn't canned was that he wasn't involved with the conflict directly with Dolan

Not really a change of direction if you promote the assistant GM and keep the coach. Hopefully Drury gets autonomy there. First test of how deep the manchild's meddling will go.
