Davidson and Gorton??? How could Dolan not love the path the NYR are on? Sure the CK deal wasn’t ideal, and Trouba wasn’t perfect, but this team is a light year into their rebuild.

I expected a coaching change, let’s see these guy have a go with a different coach; canning JD and Gorton is just mind boggling

I really can't emphasize this enough, as a former employee.

There is eccentric. And yes, all of the super rich are quirky.

This guy is volatile.

Everything could turn out just fine. And that's what we hope for. But there is nothing about an unchecked Jim Dolan that should be viewed as a good thing.

It is a very well know fact that Dolan loves his pain killers...........Oxy

Maximum excellence in every single area is the only thing that ever will get us a Cup. Did we have that? Not even remotely. I feel bad for Gorton because he really could have been a part of this, but I am 100% that many of his personnel decisions was made to get people that wouldn’t get in his way, and that is unacceptable. Can’t afford to think like that.

You know we’re down bad when largely the entire hockey world is denouncing these moves as terrible and the only ones who think this is good is a sliver of Ranger fans

How is "well at least Quinn should get fired" an actual thought after this. Who the f*** cares.

Brian worms.

Jeff Gorton hitched his wagon to David Quinn, a developmental coach with no repertoire for physical scrum-like hockey that eventually brought about the exodus of DeAngelo and Lemieux. If those two asshats are still in Rangers jerseys right now, there is 0% chance this happens. Dolan is pissed because we got rid of DeAngelo and Lemieux and after double shutouts to the Islanders and Dolan's $80M man being thrown around like a sac of cat litter, he finally said he's had enough and posted that press release attacking the league and was going to fire Gorton no matter what. JD got in the crossfire.

Tony DeAngelo will play the next game against the Bruins.

Honestly I am f***ing fine with this. Put him in

I also think it’s really really good if a total purge comes of the personal of this organization. Like how many family members of GMs and the President do we have employed? How many is there because they — after a world wide search — were deemed to be the best for the job? Anyone?

It won’t cut it, we will never win a Cup with that approach. Never.

The league office really blew it. They should have at least suspended Wilson for this game to prevent a circus.
Yup. League could have defused the entire situation by giving him a game for the slew foot. But nope, always count on the NHL to do the dumbest thing possible. Its why soccer has passed them and womens basketball is starting to catch up.

Interesting. Shave your head before taking an afternoon nap in a cancer hospital and this is what you wake up to.

....but if Dolan wanted that letter out and Davidson and Gorton wanted distance.....to me the letter needed to go out. Parros and Wilson are clowns and the NHL is in the wrong not the Rangers and f*** that corporate happy tool Bettman. I’ve never liked that f***er and he’s the reason this concussion issue has never been looked into correctly. He’d rather lie out his ass to suck up to billionaires.

I had no idea. Kick its butt and get well!

This seems right to me. The League "explained" their point of view to Dolan. Dolan thinks it over for a second and then axes the two that sent the statement. I don't buy that it's not related. It's too incredibly coincidental. If it had been for underperformance it would have happened after the season.

everything out there indicating the opposite. gorton and dolan didn't know about the statement until after it was released. they disagreed with it and were putting that out there. jimmy wasn't happy about that and told jd to fire gorton, jd refused, and both were gone. dolan will destroy everything that was being built. jd and gorton may have made some mistakes, but this thing was firmly headed in the right direction - and they're both level headed and thoughtful in action. the statement reeked of emotion - thats not their style. the firing them within 24 hours turning a media firestorm into a circus reeks of a temper tantrum thrown by an incompetent owner.

drury seems to be well thought of and competent. dolan better hope so. because his meddling has turned us into a laughinstock at the moment, and will certainly take some smooth operating to rebuild the organizational image. can't even imagine being one of the young players subjected to this bs. dolan saw tom wilsons stupidity and couldn't help but say hold my beer i guess. another lost decade coming, thanks dolan

If this organization takes the next step forward, sure. If they dont...
I think they will. Drury may on the surface move more aggressively, but I think we all knew that would happen eventually. Like, eventually we'd have to move some young defensemen for something else. Drury will do it. Some will say it's Dolan forcing him but I think in reality it will just be the natural progression of things.

I think Drury is of the same general philosophy as the two departed and will handle things much the same way. I wouldn't expect any crazy shit. If Drury thought he was going to be forced into crazy shit he could find a job elsewhere rather easily.

Every other GM in the league looking at our kids and prospects....

Looking at what our FO can actually control and that means you have to look past Laf, Kakko and Fox bc all three guys coming here was flat out luck that doesnt reflect our FO's abilities.

So then what do they have to rest their hat on? Signing panarin would be a major check +++++.

Zib is a positive but he clearly has warts. His statline this season is extremely misleading. Have to hope it was just covid.

This team was able to overachieve when it had no talent bc we brought in guys who busted their ass. We've built a team now that underachieves consistently. It's about the only thing consistent about the team. We get pushed around badly. We see what looks like clear dysfunction and incompetence from the coaching and from the way things occur off the ice as well. Not to mention the way we've allocated money . Quite a few questionable decisions.

That is a LOT of bad.

Now there is also a lot of good too. Just saying I am not surprised and I really have questions about just how good a job they did to get us on this path...I still question how good that path even is.

I don't necassarily trust Drury (or whoever kisses Dolan's ass enough to get the job) will be better though. In fact I suspect they'd prob be worse which means we were probably f***ed no matter what

I don't know.

In theory, that guy is Messier. But for as much as I like him as a player, I don't have confidence in him for that role. At the very least, he doesn't have my trust. At worst, I don't think he's a fit.

Right or not, the idea of Messier coming in reminds me of when Espo took over.
