If Laf, Fox, or Igor are traded I doubt I care about the team as much as have

I really don't want Kakko traded but at least if he is traded for someone of similar age and skill ceiling I can say okay

If it was performance, Drury who was tied to Gorts hip would be gone. Drury was in a tough spot. I was a number 2 in an organization who fired number 1 who was my friend BUT as I surveyed the landscape...my family comes first.

I wish I was in the room when Colin Campbell found out about the statement. Releasing that goes against a sacred code of hockey management which is never bring the league into disrepute. Colie must have been furious.

Drury has his work cut out for him repairing the relationship between the governors and the Rangers. We might not make it out intact. I shudder to think how bad it could get.

I’m also expecting the Rangers will be on the pk very early tonight.

This seems right to me. The League "explained" their point of view to Dolan. Dolan thinks it over for a second and then axes the two that sent the statement. I don't buy that it's not related. It's too incredibly coincidental. If it had been for underperformance it would have happened after the season.

I am not sure that this will be entirely negative in the long run. And I am not a big Drury or Sather fan. But - there were certainly things that could've been done better by the Dynamic Duo fired today - especially out of an owners perspective. Most of the super wealthy people on this planet are descipable and sociopaths, it kind of comes with the territory. And that ain't changing...

We have lots of assets and talent to boot now in the organisation, use the tradable ones of the older core and surplus of youth to find the right & balanced mix now. Along with a real NHL coach. There is a lot of opportunity here that should not be botched.

I'm not concerned about the organization trust fund any more than I was 24 hours ago.

I'm concerning about the guy whose name is on the trust and the fact that they just removed the account managers who prevented him for being bankrupt after a binge.

We went from people crying that he signed Jack Johnson to calling today “sacrilegious” lmao. HF for you.

Maybe because signing Jack Johnson who ended up playing like 10 games for this team isn't a fireable offense for the GM AND President. Also, the Penguins had Jack Johnson, they had Tanner Glass what a terrible franchise.

Curious timing. Can't recall the last time a GM and President were s**t-canned with 3 games left in a regular season. Hard to believe this isn't related to "The Statement." Underachieving? Yea, I guess. But it's been an irregular regular season with playing all divisional games, injury bug, and the Panarin leave. It's such a young team. What exactly did Dolan expect this year?

The biggest kick in the nads here is Quinn still being around I gotta be honest

“I don’t like the direction of the team or the way they’ve been playing, but we’re keeping the coach who is partly to blame for that”

This is just wrong. Moves like this make us look like a circus and it makes available future candidates hesitant to come here when there is an Owner who can step in and illogically fire you at the top.

smh this is just so bad. So bad. This team was on a good path. It needed to be fine tuned a bit, added to a bit. This just doesnt make sense.

Welp I dont think Quinn survives this either after the season has ended.

Any time I put on my Laf shirt, something bad happens. I should have known, although I wasn't expecting this. Complete shocker. I was in a state of shock for next the hour or so at the dentist.

JD - Most Rangers fans loved him. I feel bad for him.

Gorts - For the most part had done a nice job with the rebuild, but he was far from perfect. Several mistakes, but he should have gotten another year. We are stockpiled with assets now. We can't complain.

Quinn - He needs to go.

The team as constructed: has a lot of nice pieces, but isn't constructed properly. I think most of us know that changes were needed and hopefully Drury can start that process.

Dolan - Ugh, please stay away. It was nice when you were obsessed with destroying the Knicks. I say this even as a Knicks fan because the Rangers are my true love and the Knicks were worth the sacrifice. (although go Knicks!).

ADA - GTFO with that talk.

The fans - lots of overreacting now, but with legit concern. I think changing the makeup of the team is necessary. I'm not fearing that we are trading the young players and prospects for tough guys. At least I'm not concerned until if it happens. Teams may test Drury, but I don't think he's an idiot even if Dolan pressures him. We'll see.

The guys that are quitting following the team? Lol, sure.

Here’s a question, does Boomer Esiason have Dolan’s Ear? Boomer was upset yesterday morning. Is it possible he dropped that fact the the team could of had his son-in-law for pennies for 4 years and passed. He could of argued that Martin was an insurance policy on all those contracts of players that have been run over the last week. I know it’s a stretch , but hey you never know.

Trying to catch up only on page 18, but this is a flashback to the dark ages, hopefully its not the start of a new one.

Wasn't a huge fan of Gorton, positives and negatives, he wasn't terrible by any stretch, but some of the signings/moves were questionable, not even going to get on him for the Miller/McD trade, most analytics had JT in the gutter back then so it's funny that they're circling back to point out it out as a flub when most of stat heads would have moved his ass. The coach/player dynamic seemed poor, Quinn was Gorton's guy, players had enough of Torts a decade ago, seems like Quinn and the players were at odds if you believe what the media was saying prior to today. Guess JD fell on the grenade for Gorton, and no one was spared. I really liked the idea of having JD here, it's a shame it went down like this. I'm sure this came down to Gorton/Quinn being on the burner, this Wilson sideshow can't possibly the reason you pull the pin and blow it all up.

Sad day, hopefully we get some direction, because it did seem from the outside that 2021 was just a rudderless ship.

If Jim Dolan made this move bc he is “tired of losing” it’s a f***ing disaster. We all know how this goes. It won’t matter how smart Drury is or how much he’s a believer in young talent. You don’t fire the whole FO to stay on the same path.

I'm leaning toward President --- in a Shanahan type role.

Coaching wise I'll be shocked if DQ isn't done. But I don't have a candidate in mind.

I'd say there's a decent possibility you're looking at an Edmonton connection.

I can see Kevin Lowe brought in by Messier, good ol Old Boy's club getting back into the good times again. What a mess.

Poor kids. To get half their careers ruined by a drunk hedge fund baby's temper tantrum.

I refuse to believe that Dolan felt like meddling with the Rangers so he fired JG and JD. It doesn't make sense at all and goes against his entire history as owner of the Rangers.

But it's especially infuriating that people have taken some reports and dismissed others in order to create this Dolan meddling narrative (which happens to be the most negative possible explanation). It basically amounts to fearmongering, which people love to do in the sports world and otherwise.

In reality, this decision was probably brewing for awhile and the Wilson thing was the catalyst for it happening now rather than in the summer. We likely won't know all the details as to why they were fired until decades have passed. But I think the team is in good hands with Drury. And the organization under Drury probably won't be too different than the organization under JG and JD.

That was a big part of what Sather did pretty well. It's not to debate all of his decisions --- good and bad.

Dolan unchecked is....a potential challenge of the highest degree.

Unless Sather is planning to be more active in his role as advisor (he's gotten a lot older guys), this is the first time this team hasn't had a buffer in close to 20 years. Dolan needs a buffer. He's a hot wire that needs a ground.

Here we go with all the scenarios.....ok my turn...Bettman calls Gorts and says what the heck kind of statement is that??? Gorts reply's I had nothing to do with it. Calls JD who says the same...calls Dolan and says Gorts and JD said they had nothing to do with it...Dolan blows a head gasket and the rest as they say ....
