It looks like it may take a while before the dust settles and we know exactly what happened

I, like everyone else, is really scared about the implications of all this. What kind of dumb moves will they make? Are they going to replace Quinn in a few days, and with whom? This may end up being a very dark day for the organization. They could have at least waited until the season ended.

I feel like if this was really "organizational/player personnel direction related," then we wouldn't have been so quick to hand the reigns to Drury. The tweets didn't say he was "interim," GM and President, it said he's taking over, and he's kinda an underling to Gorton and JD.

I still go back to feeling like this isn't about the team underachieving or the owner wanting Eichel (which I thought there was a decent chance that Gorton would make a move for anyway), but statement related.

This smells to me like either Dolan wanted the statement and JD/Gorton didn't have his back so they are gone, or, Bettman called Dolan and said this is unacceptable and someone's head better roll or we will make your head roll.

I am going to guess this about “mentality” for Dolan.

The mentality that works really well when you’re in a bar with your friends does not always translate to a multi-million dollar discussion or negotiation.

And that’s always been Dolan’s flaw. The money he was born into is the only thing that separates him from being the random obituary you read or the random news report you hear about someone drinking or stuffing themselves to death after a wild night with a prostitute in an hourly motel.
