people saying Jack is struggling realize he has 18 points in 21 games right? While playing on what might historically be the worst team ever...and he's done that for the runner ups for that much wanted trophy the last few years too...

While playing injured, too. I doubt anyone actually thinks Jack is struggling (well, idk, maybe there are some genuine idiots milling around); I suspect most are just trying to devalue him to justify their offer of "my team's 9th, 28th, and 2,457th most valuable pieces for your bona fide franchise center."

chytil:
2019/20: 60 - 14 - 9 - 23
2020/21: 10 - 3 - 3 - 6
-> buzzing -> future top6 center, might even be more

eichel:
2019/20: 68 - 36 - 42 - 78
2020/21: 21 - 2 - 16 - 18
-> hugely struggling -> adding his 'injury proneness' not close to elite 1c

Please tell me your joking.I get it you don't want to give up blue chip prospects just like I don't want to give up Eichel or Dahlin. Both fan bases should just agree we don't want to give up what it would reqire

We also realize he has 2 goals and is shooting at 3% with half his goals/production on the power play. (Normally, who cares, right? Points are points. But when you only have 2 goals, it's bad)
- Is that not struggling? Or is Jack Eichel just one of those unlucky players who "hits the post"? Good players make other players around you better. There's nothing wrong with 18 points in 21 games on paper, but Jack Eichel is better than that and needs to start scoring.

If you're injured. You're still struggling on the Ice. You just have a reason. .

A string of injuries isn't the same as the headcase quitter narrative used to devalue him enough to justify the half-assed trade return.

Right, there's no reason sell Eichel off to another team unless he starts demanding it and impacting the locker room. 2 goals this season doesn't change his value. Jack Eichel controls his value and as long as he keeps quiet, teams shouldn't fear he won't want to play for them if a trade was made. Eichel hasn't said "Get me out of here and trade me to the NYR". His value hasn't dropped.

It's pretty simple, really. You want to trade for Jack Eichel unless you are the Oilers or the Avalanche there are no untouchables on your roster. And that is assuming that the Sabres are even dumb enough to trade him.
I think you can find a few more teams to add on that list. I wouldn't trade Hedman or Kucherov for him unless the surgery impacts his career. I wouldn't trade Matthews or Marner for him. I doubt the conversation continues with Boston fans if Pasta's name is included. The untouchable list probably goes beyond 2 teams.

Zib turns 28 in April. Eichel is 24. Zib ain’t gonna be the big card in an offer for Eichel.

Also, both are “crazy struggling” this season, but Eichel at least has good production still. Zib has nothing. Which is probably good for NYR if they intend on signing him beyond his current contract.

But still, I have to agree with the other poster who said if your best pieces to offer for Eichel are “some combo of Buch, Strome, Zib”.. you don’t have a snowballs chance of getting him.

Not counting other possible adds, those are the player assets we have available. And I did not suggest a combo of them I offered all of them.

What is egregiously being overlooked is my willingness to accept the albatross of Skinner contract retained down to 6.5 per, which does not happen otherwise; and
also taking on cap dump of Hutton including stopgap G prospect Huska.

that is huge in terms of helping buf reset.

Do you really in heart believe eichel is equal value to buch strome and zib? Come on now

The issue is not = value.
The issue is does BUF have other options which allow to keep Eich which do not require SIGNFICANT AND IMMEDIATE HELP, for which exactly how do Sabes proceed to get THERE.

Corollary to that is who can afford to absorb Eich and his 10m?

Finally pls note I offered HUMONGOUS level cap relief in addition to all 3 of those players.

TheScore posted an article about a hypothetical rebuild the Sabres could undergo and included a Jack Eichel to the Rangers trade. These were the pieces.

To New York:
Jack Eichel

To Buffalo:
Kaapo Kakko
Vitali Kravstov
Ryan Strome
Nils Lundkvist
2021 First Round Pick*
2022 Second Round Pick

*Buffalo receives 2022 First Round Pick if trade occurs after draft or if pick is in the top 5

Now the author is by no means an expert, but he does do this for a living we should hold his hypothetical in higher regard than the ones we’ve been coming up with.

Age position and contract status also matter. It really is 2 teams unless Kevyn Adams gets absolutely bent over.

Eichel will be traded for a future elite piece. Your struggling 2OA + a bunch of good not great pieces isn't it, even if the quantity is there. An ROR trade 2.0 would be an absolute disaster we can't afford.

i wont argue that above is someone's idea of fair,
however, except for Lindros deal 30 years ago, no team has paid that much (5 1's + a 2)
and i don't see NYR surrendering all of Kappo, Krav and Lundkvist, 3 of their shiniest young blue-chip prospects

As a Rangers fan, I say HELL NOOOOOO to this trade.

That goes both ways though--Pavel Buchnevich has put up 20 points in 24 games at about 1/3 of the cap hit, but he's "crap" and "garbage" according to some Buffalo fans. I think both sides have differing opinions on the value of the pieces they hold. That's normal, I think. The gap between those opinions is pretty pronounced, however, so I doubt that there will ever be a potential deal between these two teams that isn't hated by all involved.

Age, contract, and position only matters to the team acquiring him. Matthews and Marner are both younger, and Matthews has shown to be a better player. You can even argue that Marner is more important than Matthews. I'm a non-Toronto fan telling you Leafs would hold 2 untouchable players in a trade for Eichel, and they absolutely should. Eichel isn't the 3rd best/valued player in the NHL, regardless of cap, age, and position.

If Eichel wants out you’re getting ROR 2.0 no matter what, strap in cause it’s gonna be ugly.

Kakko looking more like a bust, rangers would be lucky to get eichel for him
You haven’t watched Kakko this season. All you did was take a peek at his stats and made a foolish assumption.

Kakko has repeatedly shown flashes of brilliance with his puck possession and work along the boards which have resulted in opportunities.

Kid just turned 20. He’s a totally different player than last season. In another year or two he’s going to be damn near impossible to knock off the puck. The points will come.

thanks for the share,
and no disrespect,
but I don't give a rat's rump what that guy thinks
there is no hypothetical higher regard

things are on their merit.
sure this is largely subjective that is fair.
But it is obvious that such a massive overpay guts the acquiring team, whether it be NYR or any other.

My hope is GMJG continues to recognize what bernmeister is saying no moving bluest blue chip elcs.

We have other nice pieces to deal for futures and we should execute our newly found ability to draft well with those futures.

Also, I find it hard to believe that all that was the actual offer. It may have been one or a couple of this one or that one, but not all those.
In any event, no bluest blue chips.

Signif considerations from taking on Skinner at 6.5
giving you Huska for worthless Hutton
and in addition to cap relief
Strome, Buch and Zib,
that is our base

or no deal, and if you get a better offer, no hard feelings, more power to you.

You are a better man than I, even if you are not Gunga Din.

That said, I'll say it clearly and unequivocally.
That offer is beyond one sided and totally is not fair.
It is team gutting and way beyond ridiculous.

If the author of that article wants to debate me, subject to the availability of my schedule, that can be arranged.

Jack Eichel is not going to be a ROR trade 2.0 and people saying so are making themselves look foolish. ROR trade was universally mocked the moment it was made. The stupidity in this thread both ways is amazing.
