He had a very strong camp and pre-season with the Jets. Improved every day, it seemed. Coaches at the NHL and AHL level love him and praise his defensive play, physicality, retrievals and first touch.

In the AHL he's starting as the top pair RD and getting top PK and PP opportunities. He was very good in his first two AHL games. Solid defensively with plenty of physicality and showing some panache offensively.

Seems likely to get some NHL games this season if there are injuries on RD, or down the stretch of the playoff situation is settled. I'd be surprised if he doesn't make the Jets in 2025. Generally considered by Jets fans and pundits to be in the mix as the Jets top prospect, along with Lambert and Yager.
wow thanks for that info!

Ya from everything i read on him and looking at his stats he looks real promising

If Chevy goes big game hunting given this torrid pace continues, the last guy I want traded is Salomonsson. Him and Yager. Adapting to NA brilliantly, he should be untouchable given the difficulty of obtaining high level right handed D.
Agreed. I'd be shocked if they moved Salo, as well as Yager or Lambert. RHD and centres aren't pieces I would personally give up easily.

Big afternoon for the kid. He had 2 + 1 today against Milwaukee. Up to 9 points in 10 games.

He's going to be a dandy. Continues to make an impact at each level, now in the AHL. He just turned 20 and he's their #1 D. Good to see his offense emerging. You could see that part of his game improving rapidly last season in the SHL, but he didn't get PP time. Just a matter of time before he reaches the NHL and it looks more and more like it will be rather soon. Unlike many D young prospects, the base of his game is solid defense and puck movement, and he's adding offense to that foundation. Bodes well for his NHL potential.

Do Jets fans feel he could be on the team full time next season?
Yes. He's the top D on the Jets' AHL team and improving continuously. The question is more about the NHL space. Miller is having a very strong season so far, as is Pionk. If the Jets have playoff success they might run it back next season, which would delay Salomonsson.

and I guess it also depends on what type of money Pionk demands since he is an upcoming UFA

Agree. Pionk is having a big comeback season so far. He'll be a tough contract decision for Chevy unless he agrees to a hometown discount. DeMelo is already locked up, but I think he might slide down the lineup in coming seasons, maybe even down to 3rd pair.

I won't be surprised if the Jets are grooming Salomonsson to be the eventual RD on the top pair with Morrissey. Samberg-Pionk are looking like a good 2nd pair, with Samberg elevating his game to a very strong shutdown D.

The Jets still like Stanley, and time will tell if Heinola transitions into an NHLer with the Jets. But I could see the Jets adding another higher end LD, either as a rental or a bit longer. Think Oleksiak or Petterson as the type.

In the next couple of seasons I could see the Jets running with...

Morrissey-Salomonsson
Samberg-Pionk
LD-DeMelo
