Knowing what's true?You don't have any way of knowing that's true more than I do. And either way, so what? He's an extremely valuable asset right now with only a limited NTC. He's probably the most valuable trade bait this team has had in decades. Throw away everything I said about his motives and think about just that part. We can talk about the motives next year if they re-sign him and see if he follows in his dad's footsteps or not. They can't afford him BTW if he keeps playing this well - you're looking at $11M at this point given his equivalents on the team.
I stand by what I said - you speculating about his father saying "Make sure you play the best hockey of your life going into free agency and take every penny you can."? is cynical, very cynical even and is directly contradicted by the fact that this would be his 3rd career year in a row..
