I would give him 11m a year if he has no NMC, that's easy
Then Tavares comes off. I would guess Knies and Marner's raise take half of that and they can add more D depth.Knies - Matthews - Marner
______ - Tavares - Nylander(11.5)
Robertson(1.1) - Minten - Jarnkrok
Gregor(1.1) - Kampf - Holmberg
Reaves
Rielly - ______
McCabe - Liljegren(4.0)
Benoit(0.8) - Niemela
Timmins
Woll
Hildeby
With a 87.5 million cap that's $12,359,500 in space for those 2 blanks.
Trim the fat and it's surprising how much room we have to moveTimmins too. 5.1M
Not denying that. But if Dubas is still in charge, we probably already got a 3rd 11mil player on the team and he is also Swedish but play RD.Tre making Dubas look like an expert negotiator. He'll get the hat trick in a year when marner rinses him.
Let Marner and Tavares walk and spend that 22million elsewhere, Ekblad, Provorov, Konecny, Bennett, Verhaege, Mangiapane, Ehlers, 3or 4 of those hopefully make it to ufa11.5 is not good and I love Nylander. The only way this makes sense if they are preparing to trade Marner or not sign him. If not, we have issues because you know Marner is going to ask for 13.5+
It's going to be tough.Disgusting.
11.5 is pathetic.
Who in the world was going to give Nylander 13.14 x 7 on the open market?
This also means he was asking for more than 11.5 as he's "negotiated" down to this number. This management team has no interest in winning the cup and it's basically impossible next season after this type of deal.

He was really good last year for 2/3rds of the season as well. Feel like this season is a little too cinderella like for me. Its just everything is going in that he touches and feel like he's not even actually playing that well for quite a while. The thing is that the only part of his game that has improved this year is his effort which is why this is all so risky.
It's going to be tough.
I believe someone posted a possible lineup for next year and it's not horrible.
Then gets way better when Tavares is done
Shit is gonna hit the fan if they stumble next year. @Drytoast is going to lead the revolt. They will rename Dundas after him. It's going to be tough.

Nothing about Nylander's underlying numbers suggest this is unsustainable. He was really good last year for 2/3rds of the season as well. Feel like this season is a little too cinderella like for me. We just need to be really smart with the rest of our deals next year.
Could be somebody talking to his dad.Nylander is pretty private. Unless they are literally talking to his representation or Nylander’s immediate family, doesn’t seem like the kind of info that’s just floating out there to be had. Whitney is a blowhard anyway.
The main diff is assists and most probably 2nd assists. As I find the PP is running through Willie a bit more than last year. Also others are putting the puck in the net more after Willie’s feeds or his rebounds.Nothing about Nylander's underlying numbers suggest this is unsustainable.
For comparison, Nylander has a lower on ice shooting percentage and PDO than Matthews and Marner.
He's just been that good this season.
He's putting a 50% increase to his previous best season. That and it's not like he's entering his prime years . Hes been in those for 3 or 4 years already . Seems like a carreer year to me.Nothing about Nylander's underlying numbers suggest this is unsustainable.

I doubt that Whit is just throwing it out there. These guys are very well connected in hockey circles. Matt Murley on the pod lives in Sweden. Maybe he's hearing something.
Like I said, his dad was very well known for being a selfish guy and had several contract holdouts. This wouldn't surprise me one bit.
