Wonder if we were all clear that you and verybias had no concerns about the first list that had 16,34,&88 in the top 20 post season ppg over the past 4 years.
Oh, the first list was plenty problematic too, but it's much more common for people to be significantly overdependent on playoff PPG, and at least that list was straightforward and included everybody within your chosen criteria, instead of including just a handful of players that you selected to make our players look as bad as possible.

And I'm pretty sure that despite all of the drama here, that is exactly what is going to happen.
24/25 season they would have 4 guys making 44 million and only half a roster signed. It would be interesting to see what they’d do.

the kind of guy you want on your team

He has always seemed like a great kid. Ive never seen that cockyness some see. He is almost shy at times when answering questions. The opposite of cocky. Mostly laid back with a positive view on life. A bit unstructured off ice and that might come off as if he dont care. I dont belive thats the case at all.

And i dont think he is like his father. If i was judged after my father , i would laugh for hours. Some dad jokes or jokes as dads, aint worth repeating, lets not just assume they do.(With that said i belive M Nylander been a good dad - some traits)

This all applies to Marner as well

Hard to beleive we are going to let him play the year and potentailly walk for huge $$.
I don't think you will need to believe that. Toronto will sign him. Truthfully, the team doesn't really have a choice at this point. Somewhere between $9 and $9.5 per season.

I think the big caveat is that Marner will be 11+ most likely, so Nylander won’t want to take that much less.
He may not want to take less, but the reality is that he will. The salary pecking order on the Leafs is set in stone. Mathews, Marner and then Nylander (leaving out the Tavares contract because that was a different context). That's it. He won't get more from the Leafs than Marner will get, and no other team in the NHL is paying Nylander near $11 million per season next summer. Maybe he can get $10 million per season, but on a 7 year contract he would be better off to take a slightly lower number from the Leafs on an 8 year deal.

hopefully Nylander's agent Gross has learned from the whole Johnny Gaudreau contract debacle (left tons of money/years on the table plus ended up in Columbus? lol

the only way leafs management can "win" with waiting to sign Nylander after upcoming season is if he has a subpar year... which would obviously be much less than ideal...

I don't really care either way at this point but I'm definitely not looking forward to hearing about this for the next however many months if a deal can't be completed before the 23-24 season

😕 lol

Nylander will probably play with Matthews so I think he’ll have a great year.

Oh, and have you been to Columbus?

At this point you basically need to re-sign Nylander as a trade is very unlikely.

It’ll be tough next year in Tavares’ last year of his current contract but after that it’ll be fine.

Columbus is a great city and too many around here are seemingly all too eager to talk shit about other cities, but in the posters defense, he never said a bad word about Columbus itself. He could just be referring to the situation team wise and organizationally which I think most of us can agree is not exactly the most desirable.

6 years, $9.5 AAV, 4 years of full NMC, last two years submit 10 team list, one (1) free meal at Boston Pizza bi-monthly for duration, alcohol not included, and MLSE backs up the dump truck of front loaded money to the location of Willy's choice.

Let's get it over with here.

Yeah, that's the guy to lowball.

Columbus is a beautiful city but it was not I believe Gaudreau's first choice of places to be when he became a ufa... he would have been better of resigning in Calgary... financially speaking is all... could have asked for a trade out off the flames eventually if it didn't work out there.. but now he's on the basement dwelling blue jackets team...

the grass it not always greener is what hopefully Nylander's agent has learned from handling other high profile clients 😉

Willy's choice in the end of course...

Usually ignorance.
pretty sure it was leaked that Gaudreau left money/term on the table leaving Calgary thinking he'd get an equal or better deal in UFA... which did not come to fruition... plus he ended up on a worse team... why is that ignorance 😑

I never dissed Columbus as a city or place to be...

but they're a trash hockey team right now, nobody likes losing when all is said and done... but somehow I'm ignorant lmao at least a few people understood what I was actually talking about...

If we do trade him, my only hope is that we get a similar return to the haul WPG did for PLD. Yeah yeah, he’s a center but we really should not be selling Willy off at a discount because of his salary demands.

To be honest, Toronto is not what it used to be either, and for a variety of reasons. The older I get, the further north I want to move. I just have to convince my wife to do it.
Exact same situation for me. I want to move to Collingwood full-time but wife doesn't want to pull the kids from school in Toronto. It's probably an age thing, but at 50 years old I no longer have any use for the city. Car has been stolen twice, crime everywhere, nightmare traffic, homeless encampments on what seems like every street corner, and the prospect of a mayor that is probably quite content to double down on all those things.

I think he wanted to go closer to his hometown on the east coast but they couldn't work it out.
Columbus had a horrible year no doubt but I don't think they are as bad as they showed last year.
