Don't get this, Engvall seemed to have a solid role on the Leafs. There's such a thing as shaking your roster up too much and ending up with a dynamite on paper lineup getting lapped by a team with synergy in the playoffs while they're still getting to know each other and how to play together.
Engvall is the poster child for the Leafs having the reputation for being soft as butter. Big guy, hates physical play to the point he seems like he is actively trying to avoid throwing a hit. He is fast and can shoot. Sometimes he scores a big goal but most of the time you barely notice that he is on the ice.

A man who did everything well; but, never more than well. Someone built like a tank; but, would curl away from the sight of any player ahead of him (literally). Best of luck to you!

Don't really understand what the Isles are angling for here. I mean, Engvall is a decent Bottom-6 forward, and a 3rd isn't really too far off the typical "going rate" for good depth like that at the deadline. But is a bottom-6 forward really what the Isles needed at this point?

Also not sure why the Leafs are "selling off" solid depth like this. When typically, you see teams start to stack up layers of these types of versatile depth guys.

Pretty pointless trade for the Islanders; helps leafs out more than they helped themselves. Dubas making solid playoff style moves; except for trading away Sandin for a pick for no reason.

You're the first person I've heard ever say that.

The Leafs board has been begging to trade him all year. He's a pending UFA the Leafs have 0 interest in re-signing and does nothing in the playoffs.
Wasn’t your fanbase pushing him like he’s some unreal bottom 6 player to over inflate his value? Not quite what was pushed about Kerfoot but still pretty bad.

Good luck to Engvall, he was always a serviceable player with some skill and good north-south but never used his size. Return is pretty good all things considered.

We have like 5 regulars out with injury. We're angling for capable bodies so we don't have to trot out Koivula and Andreoff.

He was the odd man out after the additions of Acciari and Lafferty. Besides, he kind of was the 'odd man out' when you consider the number of times Keefe made him a healthy scratch. Regardless, Dubas recouped some picks today after packaging some over the past week.

He's not a bad bottom 6 player, but the best in the league? Come on now, show me the multiple fans who said that. I'm assuming you dreamt it.

He's a rental though, the Leafs aren't going to re-sign him. He's declined from last year and is afraid of contact.

Honestly, Engvall can be one of the best or one of the worst on the ice. If he ever gets a fire in him to consistently play up to his potential, he would be a top-line player.

Logjam of bodies, makes sense.

Good skater, size, reliable defensively and has a scoring touch. Soft as a wet paper towel. He's a great bottom sixer, though.

Will fit in nice for our bottom 6. Versatile guy and good defensively.

Not hating on the player, he's not bad but 'solid puck skills' is a very weird description of him. He's got stonehands and doesn't do much when the puck is on his stick oter than cycle it or pump it deep.

Oh God, I'm going to miss watching his robotic, automatic curl back move. He's like a Roomba that's programmed along a specific path and immediately turns in an obvious way when something is blocking that path.

Engvall serves a good role for Leafs. He effective on the PK and Defense. Has a lot of speed. He is passive along the boards and not very physical (as many have said). Leafs were able to shed i) salary 2.25m on an expiring contract and ii) gain an asset. Good move from the Leafs.
