So Maurice thinks they played their asses off and he has no problem with their game tonight...

Do I detect a teeny tiny ray of sunshine here?:sarcasm:

Not sure what you mean. But I don’t understand all the posters who blame our current predicament on the unexpected Buff situation. I don’t think we would have been much better off with Buff in our lineup. We might as well be bemoaning the fact that Bobby Hull isn’t in our lineup anymore.

In Maurice's post game he said something to the effect of "we are doing the best with what we have".

When Noel started saying this it was near the end.

Well it's not just Buff it's the fact that the predicament has tied our hands on making any moves to bring in more salary.

But at this point ibwoukd be happy seeking at the deadline and go into the summer with some cap space and some additional assets to address our holes.

Apologies, I'm just trying to pick up the mood a bit through my best vehicle, humour.

The "ray of sunshine" turns out to be a super energetic emission of radiation and magnetism, to anything nearby essentially a world-eating cataclysm of titanic power. So I should have explained. My sense of humour has close ties to pathos.

Yeah I think he's smart enough to know that the end is near.

He's probably also connected enough with people around the league to be aware if the Jets are talking to anyone to replace him. Chevy said that the decision was made to fire Noel about half a week before he was actually fired and replaced with Maurice, so maybe the decision's already been made :dunno:

I keep saying this since June, no coach in the world was making the Jets a cup contender this year......a cap & D restructuring year.....at best the Jets could of been was a playoff contender with a 1st Rd exit IMO. Chevy I think intentionally used this year as restructuring year and to restock the prospects including a nice 1st Rd pick.....I think he was planning on likely replacing PMO this summer that's why PMO has no contract unlike last time......but with the recent dive in results Chevy might have no choice to let PMO go mid season even if it's just to evaluate a guy like Pascal Vincent for the remainder of the year and then decide during the offseason who the new coach will be.

This would be the sound thing to do in the circumstance - but if Chevy were truly of this mindset, wouldn`t the season then much better be used to see what we`ve got within the organization by giving more of our young guys a real sustained opportunity on the big club? Why, pray tell, did he give so much emphasis to securing low/no cost plugs (Letestu/ Bourque/ Bitteto/Sbisa) and then grant them spots on the team over players already within the org with potential but perhaps at differing stages of development?

Does Scheifele fighting mean he actually gives a ****?

Hard to tell with this team. 5 top line forwards, what should be / has been in previous years a terrific 3rd line, still good depth...but mix it all together and they have been crap for a full year now.

I am open to ANYONE being traded. Team needs a heart transplant. Whatever malaise took over this team December 2018 is still affecting the team. It is not just coaching.

I'm done sticking up for this guy... he's gotta GTFO!

Who writes this crap.... "Paul Maurice on the team’s strong effort against the Hurricanes..."

I guess the Jets PR machine. Really, how stupid do they think their fan base is. It's insulting already.

First try what every team does ... replace the coach.

. I don’t understand that either. Did the league freeze Buff’s 8 million dollar cap space ? Why couldn’t Chevy use it ? Teams get cap relief for LTIR players. Most GMs use that allowance on a regular basis.

We probably don't have the team or the record to make a run in the playoffs this year, that we can all agree on.

However, we absolutely should fire Maurice now instead of later. For starters hes gone totally stale on this player group, and second there are two top tier coaches available right now that probably won't be or won't have us on their radar this offseason.

I agree with you on this.

My issue with Buff is the cap space he is taking up.

Cap space that is currently unavailable to us until his situation is resolved.

Being suspended and being put on long term injured reserve are very different things. The Jets would accrue permanent cap space if he were suspended but if he was on LTIR covers you while the player is injured but once the player returns their cap hit returns. As such the Jets could be in a dire predicament if they spent the cap space and then were ruled against.

Other teams are able to use this due to those players effectively being injured so that they can't play again so no worry about their cap hit coming back onto the books.

I must have missed the fact that the league isn’t allowing us to use the cap space.
