I know and Hache declined the trade. I like his size but he's not the best puck mover and is a little slow going from the corner to the front of his net. I was ok with him declining that trade. I think Sawyer is a better player (better passer, better skater, plays with an edge) than Hache obviously, just my opinion. NB may never be this close again to ascending to the top of the ranks in the league and I would like to see an all or nothing approach to this year. The reality is, NBB will lose Winslow, Jackson, MacDonald, Ertle, Petrov and possibly Arbnsby next season. It would appear to me if you want to go for it you need to do it this year....???
If the 67’s end up selling, Jack Matier would be a huge addition to your team.

The one line coach mentions and say he likes is; Podolioukh with Tarasevich and Procyszyn, so expect that for now.
It will definitely be tough without Winslow to start, but a 2nd & 3rd pick is a bit much for a 12 game replacement. If a #1 D becomes available to the battalion and Denis likes him, he will pull the trigger. He supposedly already made an attempt to acquire Hache.
Btw, is that the projected fourth line?

100% agree. What is your projections for the 67s? Still a bit young but a nice group of young players. Is Rohner back for the season opening? What about Tyler Boucher?
Rohrer is expected to be in the lineup today. I have a feeling that the 67’s will be in the 6-8 range in the conference. You don’t trade 19 year olds like Teddy Sawyer if you’re a league contender.

I can see them building around the ‘05 and ‘06 classes. Lots of high upside kids in those classes. The ‘04 cohort took a hit when Nick Moldenhauer didn’t report. Watch out for Brad Gardiner and Cooper Foster this year to break out as second year players.

Denis seems to want to win, a lot. He will make the move when it presents itself, I’m sure.
I think Hache is a significantly better player than Sawyer and what he would bring to team not only fits Denis’ player profile, he compliments both Nelson & Christopolous more; but yeah, it may just be a matter of opinion.

Idk. I thought Tarasevich - Procyszyn - Sima, but it doesn’t seem so.
Maybe Petrov plays RW until MacDonald returns? Podolioukh has to be #3 C, right?

Petrov-Jackson-Wakely
Ertel-Arnsby- (MacDonald)/Sima
Tarasevich-Podolioukh-Procyszyn
VanSteensel-Romani-Therrien

If MP is back in time what do you think the lines will be?
My guess is Wakley, Jackson, Ertle
Petrov, Arnsby, Van Steensel
Tarasavich, Pods, Romani
Sima, Procyszyn McQueen-Spence

I would be very concerned with the backend. Nelson and Christopolous then it falls off big time. Gauvreau, Turley, Lukin and Kennedy isn't going to get you very far in this league. NB will be fortunate to split this weekend with that backend. The GM has to wake up here and get something done about that backend. I know Matherin will be back at some point and Winslow maybe by the end of October. But that will be 12 games into the season. I think the GM is taking a very big risk not going out and signing a 19 year old defenseman. I see Teddy Sawyer was traded to Owen Sound, NB should have been trying to add him...I really thought Adam Dennis was going to take this organization out of the dark ages but it doesn't appear he has the gumption to pull the trigger and go for it.

We haven’t played a game yet lol.

I couldn’t agree more. Northern boy from SSM. He would make our top 4 D very strong.
After watching last nights game against SSM - we need to really consider our defense isn't that good. Kennedy, Turley, Gauvreau, Lukin and Christopolous (Christo to a lesser extend) struggled big time. Kennedy and Turley not ready for this level and Lukin and Gauvreau just not very good. I don't think NB can wait to improve this backend. And even with Matherin and Winslow we are in need of upgrades (assuming we are truly going to go for it). Mississauga is tops in the East, the Pete's have two OA spots available that will be filled at some point, We will not be able to compete with those teams once they add.

Is it just me? when I watch NB play they don't seem to be able to breakout of their own zone with any sort of efficiency. This teams seems to play disorganized hockey (almost organized chaos) which is odd to say given they won 43 games last year. Forecheck is not good,, breakouts are not good, regrouping and reloading not good, team doesn't seem to be able to stretch the ice and my biggest issue with this team is the poor puck support they display all over the ice. Maybe it's just me but I feel this team isn't tactically well coached. I think the coaching staff focuses more on "Bleed Green" than systems and tactical ways to play and breakdown other teams. Am I alone in this???

one game played, hard to practice as a team when determining cuts in pre-season and 9 roster players are away at camp.

Mississauga really can’t add. They effectively used all their disposable picks acquiring Enright, Struthers, and Cooke from Niagara.

Between pre-season and tonight so far I am slightly concerned with the backup goalie situation. Not trying to overreact but certainly worth keeping an eye on it

12 games of this defence is gonna be painful… after nelson this might be the worst 5 d group in the league (as it stands with the injuries).

Looking around the OHL tonight every coach that played in back-to-back games went with their starter. This a game NB lost bc of goaltending and giving away two points is never good at any time of the year. There is cause for concern. I have been very vocal about this concern. I don't see NB finishing top four in the east this year. Your backup needs to play 18/20 games. And riddle me this...if their number 1 goes down then what?? Defense isn't looking to good either.

With one move on d and a winslow/mathurin return they are better than last year
