no idea but owen sounds third round pick produced way more then north bays 1st, maybe they didnt value him the same way north bay did. even now, outwater is what, owen sounds 12 forward? i can see how they would value picks more. if outwater was a d perhaps its a different discussion.

thats what i had heard the deal was going to be, outwater for hache.
Any idea why Hache turn down the deal?? I mean, NB eliminated the heavily favorite KK in last years playoffs. NB has a chance to be real good this year with a few tweaks mostly the addition of a 19 year old D man and one more top 6 forward. And if Winslow isn't available then they will need to add an OA Dman in his place. I hate the idea that 19 year old players can decline trades - to me at this level of hockey it speak to their character.

Maybe I am missing something. Perhaps NB isn't going to be as good as I think but if I am not off with my assessment, then Hache declines going to a team with a shot of going deep??? Makes you wonder...

i think nb is one of the better teams on their side, they will need d but alot of teams need d. they are way better then niagara, i have them better then mississauga. maybe hache doesnt like the coach, maybe he doesnt want to leave kingston, maybe he just wanted to go to one spot, who knows it may have nothing to do with north bay

Makes sense. NB should have two deep scoring line with Ertle, Jackson, Petrov, MacDonald all capable of scoring 40 plus goals. I think Wakley can push for 30 goals if given the chance but my player to watch this year is Romani. I feel he needs the opportunity and he could be something special especially in the 2023-2024 season. NB's third line what every players make it up (Sima, Podiluik, Van Steensel, Wakley or Romani) could be the best third line in the O....agree? What is your prediction for NB's third line to start the season?

i dont know that ertel is capable of 40, the others for sure. ertel is in the ohl for a reason, he was not doing well at cornell.

Fair point. I am assume he's playing along side Jackson and Petrov and that will give him plenty of opportunity to score close to 40. If Jackson didn't get hurt Coe would have scored 40 - Jackson is a pure playmaker with great vison and is a pass first guy. Ertle will benefit from him and he is a year older and playing against younger players now. He is a Dallas Stars third round pick for a reason. I guess it'll depend on chemistry and line configuration.

well i wouldnt put much into the nhl draft that year, covid took away alot of seasons. ertel is a good top 6 guy, better if he plays with the right players, hes never scored alot even dating back to minor midget.

Fair. Maybe MacDonald will play the right side with Jackson and Petrov. However, I do not trust this coaching staff to push out the correct configurations. I mean, Jackson, Coe and Petrov were the best line in the OHL and maybe the CHL at one point last year and the coach decided it made sense to move Petrov off that line and put him on the third line. Not sure the was a brilliant move.

Owen Sound will produce lots of offense this year but once things are in full swing I am not sure they will be able to keep the puck out of there net. They could be in a lot of high scoring games. MacDonald had two goals - how did he look? What about Arnsby? It's preseason and is absolutely meaningless but still, I'd like to get a feel for how certain players are looking. OS kept out Barlow and Burroughs NB had out Jackson, Petrov, Ertle, Nelson, Mathurin and Winslow (Injured).
As an Attack fan, I'm curious what you see in the defensive side of OS game as a weakness this season ?

I think OS will out score most teams most nights but definitely there backend is a concern and I am not sold on their goaltending. Will be fine during the season but could be an issue come playoffs.

I think our D needs a top guy, that's probably the biggest question mark. Our goalie actually played his best int he playoffs, had a .924 sv vs Flint. I would be surprised if he had to do that in this years playoffs for the team to have success.

.924 will get the job done. Who will be OS's top four Dmen? Sedley(1) Seed(2) and Seed hasn't been given any real role over his first three/four years. I think he was a first rounder and they being the organization butchered his development, Steen and who's four? So, if that's 1/2 then OS needs to add for sure. They have one OA spot left if I am not mistaken. As teams get down to their OA allotment of three that should free some up on the waiver wire or a trade can be made to acquire an OA dman. They can also sit tight early and see how things play out I don't think there's an immediate rush.

Ertel is profiled more as a playmaking LW than goal scorer. Maybe he is the perfect compliment for Arnsby & MacDonald.

Idk about the best 3rd line in the O, possibly best bottom six though. I’m impressed with Romani too. I think he could possibly break out this season, but quite sure he will be a top pt producer eventually.

Tarasevich-Procyszyn-Sima
All of Wakely, Sima, & Romani will get chances to show they can play with Jackson & Petrov, I think. If none can, expect one to be traded for a player that can imo. They might be in tough just keeping Therrien out of the line up.

Would definitely be nice to see the team do more for season ticket holders. Any internal push for that has been shut down

Therrien for a guy who's small in statue he certainly doesn't play that way. He likely get sent down to play JrA with the Voodoos. I don't think it makes much sense to not dress him when he can be developing his game by playing every game with the voodoos. No question he'll be called upon throughout the year and will get his games with the Battalion. I would expect the only two 2006's to stick is Procyzyn and Turley.

Re: McDonald contract with OTT

In rookie tournament game happening now, Kyle just gave up the puck at attacking blueline. He trailed the play all the way back and BOS scored as a direct result of the turnover. Not saying 1 mishap will determine his fate, but the hill might have become a bit steeper.

Fair.
Only reason I mention it is Sens media name dropped him specifically as a guy that has a chance at earning a contract since he can immediately play in the AHL this season.

My thought is MacDonald has missed a lot of hockey over his OHL career and he really came into his own after he was traded to NB. I think he needs more time to develop his game, and his skating. If he comes back to the O he should be a dominating force and should put up some big numbers. This will give him tons of confidence and mostly likely he will sign with someone of his choice during his OA year. If I am him, I am saying Ottawa might not be the best organization to sign with as they are very deep at the forward position for years to come. But that said, if Ottawa decided to sign him I wouldn't be surprised. Truth be told, he needs to play and play lots PP, PK. play in key situations and he should get that in NB in the A he might not be more than a fourth liner and I am not sure that would be the best for his future development.

This is from the Jets’ website re: today’s rookie tournament win vs. CGY:

A battle between two teams looking to end the Young Stars Classic tournament on a high note went in favour of the Winnipeg Jets on Monday.

The three first round picks in the Jets line-up - Cole Perfetti, Chaz Lucius, and Brad Lambert - all found the back of the net in a 5-3 win, while Dominic DiVincentiis put up an incredible 44-save performance.

Besides being a back-up in Sunday's loss to Vancouver, Monday's tilt was the first time DiVincentiis had put on a Jets jersey with his name on it since being selected in the seventh round of the 2022 NHL Draft - and he made sure he'd have a good memory to go with it.

"It was a surreal moment when I walked in the room yesterday and saw my jersey hanging up. I was kind of in shock," said DiVincentiis. "I think it was definitely a team effort. They battled hard for me here. Throughout the week here, that was what the coaches designed here - have compete in every single game and sacrifice for each other."

"It's a new game speed for me, every shot for me was slow it down and see it as slow as I can," said DiVincentiis. "Even in situations where I had to make some saves for the team, that was stuff they battled for and made some big saves, and they got some big goals for me to get this win."
