Probably not, but next man up right?
Ertel has been #1 RW for most of the season. Arnsby is the C that plays against the top line, 1st PK, and every defensive zone face-off in the final 5 minutes.
The battalion were not at full strength. I’m not sure if the battalion have played 2-3 games with a full line-up this season.
Also keep in mind that NB has been missing their best overall defensemen all year: Mathurin. So I would agree that Windsor was missing a couple of top players but NB has been playing big chucks of their schedule missing: Ertle, Zito, Brzustowski, Mathurin, Arnsby....if Mathurin and Brz make it back healthy then NB defense as a group gets much much better.

My point was, they play more confident when Dom is in net.
I drove to the Oshawa game. Big disappointment when I saw the 3rd string goalie taking the net. Why would coach start him when he know 67s already won and NB had to win to stay tied atop of the conference with Ottawa? Stupid. I think the players had the same feeling ie) wtf we are going for a conference title and the coach isn't on the same page etc....I think it took the steam out of the players and they came out flat. As said, I was very disappointed to make the trip to Oshawa to see that performance that started with the coaches decision on starting goalies.

This team is good not sure what you’re talking about they might even still be better then the Petes and I’m at Petes fan. They just ran out of picks unfortunately but the players they acquired are good
Just getting caught up on HFB. I think what was being referred to by Monster 66 is NB did not go all in and made several moves too early and paid way too much/too early for what they got back. Zito, Brzustowski, Bloom and Hislop absolutely add depth however, the GMs last trade was a month before the trade deadline and even the coach announced to players and others that they were done dealing - days before the Monday/Tuesday trade deadlines....that was not smart as it gave their direct competitors (Ottawa, Barrie, Ptbro) time to evaluate and readjust their trade ideas etc. No experienced GM does this sort of thing. In the last 48 hours leading up to the deadline NB could have been in on Shayne Wright, Hache, Avery or DelMastro.....and this team needed defense like Hache or DelMastro.

I disagree totally, I think he did a great job. Shane wright is not a game changer, Del Mastro and Hache are just big boys and are not better than any of our d’s. Playoff hockey is won with depth and heart.

Bruztowski was a waste of two 4ths imo; but prices paid in the Saginaw and Niagara trades for battalion type players were fair, and made at good times to compensate for injuries and give the new players more time to gel than if made at the deadline.
I think NB has the best playoff team in the east.

I’m not sure NB has played two games with a full roster.
If Mathurin can be 100% healthy, he is the #1 battalion LD. Nelson is a top 5 D league wide.

NB was in on Harrison, Wright and z Mintyukov but all prices were too high. With a healthy team and Dom in net (key to winning), NB will be fine

Wright & DelMastro for sure, maybe all; but probably just making sure the best available went for a high cost that was more than the team could afford.
I agree; health permitting, the battalion will be fine.

Exactly. He did his due diligence but the deal wasn’t there to be had. A buddy from Oshawa said the Harrison deal was completed but player pulled the no trade clause because wanted to go home to London

They had 0 picks left. They werent getting any of those guys without having to overpay and giving up Romano or Procsyzn, or both

Dennis planned on a championship when Ertel was signed. For Del Mastro and Harrison or Wright; Procyszyn, Mathurin, Romano, VanSteensel were likely all on the table.

Clearly not because they didnt move them. They couldve had Wright for sure if they gave Romani and Procsyzn

‘For sure’, Wright had a NTC. Did Wright have Barrie & NB on his list of teams? What [(RD)] were those teams offering Kingston? NB would not give up Kennedy without getting a RD somehow.
The Petes likely could have had Wright & Roger for Lardis & McCoy.

Have a game Tuesday Nelson
Was at the game today, Nelson had the goalies number on the one timer from the left side, almost the same shot each time got him thé hattrick. Kingston was way overmatched, frankly the score and shot clock after the first was flattering, NB had the game locked after the first couple shifts.

Probably won't see any signings now until March 1 earliest or they burn a year of control.

SAR @ NB: quality visiting opponent with high end talent, team is a legitimate contender for Conf./League finals. Also has WJC gold medallist and local product goalie. Entertaining, competitive home team with 3rd best win % in the league and a legitimate contender for Conf./League finals. What is the point, you are wondering? As at 5:00pm the game has attracted the attention of about 2100 ticket purchasers. Yikes.

And what exactly has promotion/marketing team done in the last 7-8 years to put more ppl in the rink? It's basically 'here's the team, come to the rink'. Redemption Night, 2 for 1 night, $5 kids day....try something!!
They let Sarge toss Bell toques to the crowd, you know the same ones everyone threw on the ice after Petrov’s hattrick. Come on, who doesn’t want something to put on that someone else likely wore and threw on the ice

Well, at least Hamilton's move means they won't become the Brantford Battalion.
