5 in a row. Not pretty against some lower end teams but still 5 in a row. Good to see a solid game from backup and some depth show up - wakely, romani and vansteensel in particular!

Guelph, London and Erie are not "lower end teams". Niagara and Hamilton may be considered lower end by some and we outscored them by a combined 14 - 4.

Still road warriors despite scrambly play and a flurry of penalties. The bug is starting to grow on me.

NB is 3rd overall in the league. They have won 5 in a row. 4-2 against the West. Some wins have been nice and some ugly but it’s still a win. Robertson has done exactly what a goalie is supposed to do regardless who the opponent is. He gave his teammates an opportunity to win. He was excellent against Guelph and Hamilton. All 4 lines can score. Sure our D can improve. Getting TM#5 back healthy is a good start. I’m sure AD will make any necessary changes he can to improve this team. At this point it’s seems like NB is doing just fine.

Does anyone know the extent of Mathurin's shoulder injury? By my count this is the 3rd time he has been out of the lineup. Hope he can get back to playing soon.

Just finished watching recordings of the 2 road games. First of all, a big shout out to the Troops. Yes, it looks like HAM might be in a down year, but ER had won 5 in a row, and the games were 2nd and 3rd of 3 in 3 – well done. Some observations/notes/questions:

Does anyone know why Nikita Tarasevich didn’t play Sat.? I re-checked the Fri. game, he was still on the ice for regular shifts in the waning minutes, and was in the post game victory scrum, didn’t notice anything untoward.

Kyle McDonald had an interesting trip. 1G in each game, (+ 1A vs. ER) and has now scored in 5 straight. Also, vs. Gue, he drove D M. Buchinger into the boards from behind late game, the referee was watching closely, no call. Then vs. ER, mid 2nd he was in the middle of the ice, cruised into the attacking zone, took a left turn, accelerated with a couple of strides, and levelled the opponent from behind, drove him into the boards, 2 min. Blindsiding. Given his history of this type of incident, and resulting suspensions(s), I wonder if the Department of Player Safety will have a closer look.

In addition to 1G, 1A vs. HAM, 1st Star Cap`n Arny had an amazing shot block as the clock was winding down and `dogs were pressing for the equalizer.

And a bit more:

If the team decides they need more scoring, maybe GM A.D. could find a way to undo the A. Christo. trade – 11G, 6A 17Pts, 15GP. Wonder what didn`t, or did, happen here with Alex.

Re: Tnias – he was out last season Feb. 4 – Mar. 24 and I am pretty sure it was a shoulder issue. He did play every game from Mar. 24 – May 27, however, so who knows if then and now are related. If it is somehow the same shoulder, it appears it might be on its way to a chronic situation. Let's hope he makes it back soon.

Missed Feb 4 - Mar 24 injured here. Now is out of the lineup again. All shoulder injuries.

Notes from Wednesday`s workout:

Tnias Mathurin (5) was in regular gear, participated fully and engaged in 1 on 2 board battles, one of which included Kyle McDonald. Although I have no medical qualifications, I am pronouncing him cleared for game action Thursday.

Tarasevich (12) was in full uniform and will play Thursday.

I didn`t notice Winslow (8) but wasn`t looking for him either.

Podolioukh (10) was in red non-contact, but appeared to participate fully. My guess is back in the lineup soon, maybe next week.

From the team's website:

Overage defenceman Avery Winslow suffered an Achilles injury in a 5-3 verdict Saturday night at Erie and is expected to be sidelined for six weeks.

I re-watched the ER game, it was about 10:00 of the 1st. AW8 carried the puck to the attacking blueline, collided with a defender (penalized for roughing) and they both went down in a heap with their legs, feet and skates all tangled up. As Winslow was skating to the bench he lifted his left skate and looked down and back at it. It appears the injury happened in that sequence as I don`t believe he returned to the ice.

As the revolving door of key defenders keeps swinging, what will the GM’s move be? Ride it out and hope, or try to acquire a reliable overage defender now and send Avery home with thanks and a get well soon card. If the absence does stretch to 6 weeks, then his (potential) return will be right up against the Christmas break, followed in 7-10 days by the trade deadline. Sounds like a bit of a nightmare. Over to you, Adam Dennis.

It looks like wolves can send Dylan Robinson. He has gone home. Late round and a conditional 3rd or 4th could do it.

1st time poster and longtime forum reader.

I must say I had some worries early in the season but this team is starting to get on a roll. What they are doing now with 2 of their top D out is remarkable in my eyes. Hopefully the youngsters on the back end continue to develop with the increase in their ice time due to the injuries noted above. I did not see Kennedy sitting at +8 on the season and getting significant playing time on both special teams. Turley while he does have some struggles adapting to the speed of the OHL shows signs of his potential.

The chemistry between Petrov/Tarasevich/Wakely has been amazing and all 3 are lighting it up. Van Steensel/Arnsby/McDonald have also been great. In time I think you'll see similar chemistry on the Ertle/Jackson and rotating Sima/Romani group as well. You can't go wrong with three lines that are solid at both ends of the rink

Goaltending, particularly the back up position has been a surprise as well. Dom is Dom and we're now seeing that he is one of the top starters in the league. His big third period save right after we scored pretty much cemented that win.

Hold on to your hats because I think this season is going to be an adventure exciting ride in Battalion land.
