On to the next one.....Predictions for the upcoming series, Oh Battalion Faithful?!?
Here's mine....Barrie is a tough, rugged team and there will be times when they make North Bay's life miserable; I expect nothing less from them. However, there are just too many factors going North Bay's way (game stealler/best goalie in the league between the pipes, strong leadership and depth up and down the line up) to be ignored.

My Call: North Bay in 6.

Hopefully we will see you in round 3 OMG67.

Barrie it is. These have always been entertaining series. I like the troops odds. Arnsby will shutdown Brandt Clarke.

Doesn't get much praise for his work on defense but #8 Winslow has been playing some great hockey this past month.

This series with Barrie has 7 games written all over it. Goaltending should be the deciding factor.

Notes from Wednesday’s workout:

Alex. Lukin – on ice in red, seemed to partake in most activities, presume he is still a week or 2 away from returning.

Tnias Mathurin – remains in regular gear, participated fully, looks like he could be close to ready. However, he was paired with Braden Turley on several occasions, not sure what, if anything, to read into this.

Ty Nelson – the mystery remains as to his absence last part of 2nd, all 3rd last Sun. However, he was on ice in regular gear participating fully. Presume he will be in lineup.

Anthony Romani – his missing the last 6-7 min. Sun. might just have been shift rotation leading into minor pen. last 2 of the game. He was on ice in regular gear.

I understand that it was concussion protocol for Nelson after he went head first into the boards

Thanks for the updates. Mathurin is likely not ready to play in the playoffs since he’s been out all year. Partnering with Turley makes sense to me. We might see him if we are up 3-0. I’m a big fan of Marhurin so I’m excited for his return when and if it happens. Go Troops.

The majority of their guys are all still draft eligibles. Who do you think should be getting a contract?
I’d start with our #1 goalie.
As far as I know with all the drafted/NHL affiliated players aside from McDonald and Bloom none of the other 8 have signed is I believe what the question was.

I was obviously thinking of Divencentiis. Only the best tender in the league. Possibly Nelson and Zito.

I believe Petrov has already signed with EDM.

Ah. I thought he was talking about undrafted UFAs. Dom will get signed. He's still got another year of eligibility though. Nelson, too. Mathurin likely comes back after missing a whole development year.

Tough to see what Detroit, Florida and Seattle are thinking on Zito, Arnsby and Jackson. Might be an instance where either may have to start off with an AHL deal.

Thank you, forgot about Petrov.

It is mind boggling how Winnipeg hasn’t already put pen to paper with Dom. They have another year to do so but it certainly seems odd.
Perhaps they don’t have the room to sign anyone yet until their off season after they shed a few. I dunno, trying to make sense of something that doesn’t make sense.

They’ve only used 45 of 50. Now it makes even less sense.
Maybe they need playoff revenue to pay his signing bonus

They will 100% sign him as soon as his season ends. He is a lock. I also think you’ll see Nelson signed at the same time.

Arnsby, Ertel, Zito, Jackson….are all 50/50 on Entry Levels. Jackson I woukd have put higher but the signing of Morrison the other day may make it more difficult so working thru an AHL deal may be his route

While the Troops didn’t play awful they need more from the Jackson and Zito lines. 18/19/26 were near invisible. A few of the ever frustrating behind the back passes cost us possession in their end and a couple turnovers in our end. Simple hard-nosed hockey will get it done vs Barrie.
