Many call him terrible, and then go on to claim his production is really just a byproduct of Crosby and Malkin.

I'll never understand it.

His best hockey is likely behind him, but he was a great dman, at both ends.

We havent hit 5o games yet, he is brilliantly average in his own end AND he isnt the highest scoring d-man at the moment either.
Why should he be the frontrunner?

You mean when Leaf fans defend their D and state actual GA numbers? That's not stating they have the best D at all. That's simply stating it' s much better than given credit on HF.

You are misunderstanding what they are saying. They are pointing out they are top 5 in GA. That's not what they are saying at all.
When told the Leafs have an AHL type D, of course they'll show stats. The Leafs should be 30th or 31st with this hype over their D.

I haven't watched enough Leaf games to comment per say, but the earlier games I did watch, it was Hainsey pair that went up vs other teams top lines. (Hainsey and Rielly weren't a pair at the time). But I'm mistake, my bad.

My question of QOC, is how is that judge.. When playing Boston, is Rielly up vs the Bergeron line? When Playing the Pens, is he up vs the Crosby line.. etc?

Then someone posts his usage and those fancy shmancy metrics and it shits all over people that think he's not worthy of any praise. He plays tougher minutes than most of those "top 5" in that norris ranking.

What do you have to celebrate about? What have the Leafs done yet? Come back to the boards when they actually win something. Crosby led Pens have won 3 Cups. What exactly are you celebrating? You haven’t even won any awards yet or any Cups. You have this delusion that you have the best defenseman in the league. Maybe Rielly wins the Norris and you can believe he is the best defenseman, maybe you guys will win the Cup or some awards but this pre-celebration is hilarious. Pens fans actually celebrate after we have accomplished things.

I still can’t believe someone that watches hockey could believe Rielly is the best defenseman in the game. I honestly would take 10 other defenseman before him to add to the Pens if we could add anyone cap free for this year only.

He definitely plays against the top competition nightly. So he is always out against a top line like the one in Boston.

I think the majority of your own fan base would not agree with you. I have a hard time believing any knowledgeable hockey fans would really believe Rielly is the best defenseman in hockey. So Leafs think that the Lightning would have to add for a Hedman trade? Jones trade? Rielly is not even in the top 5 and I could name 10 defenseman I would rather have on my team if I could take them for the rest of the year with no cap difference.

You're clearly not understanding. Several of us have said we would trade rielly for hedman.

But there really is no question, rielly has been better THIS YEAR.

Even with a Sabre fan bias, I can honestly say I feel for you tempered Leafs fans. Seems the Leafs just get clobbered with the hot takes. The blame does goth both ways, though. I'd hate if over-exuberant fans, and their haters were ruining me watching my team finally get good left and right.
