Chytil's clearly in a rough patch, but his play prior to this season does not warrant the criticism leveled above. He's better than this and when he's out of whatever is holding him back (or traded) we can expect him to at least get to where he was before.

Many posters are very heavily influenced by the last thing they see. Look at Georgiev as an example. He could have been had for picks in the offseason. A few weeks ago, many wanted him waived and sent to Hartford. And in this thread, they are saying he should bring back a top 6 center in a trade. If Chytil turns it around, it will be the same for him.

When Bread gets back, put him with Kreider and Mika. Keep this Goodrow-Laf-Strome line going. Kakko with Chytil and Goat.

I've been thinking that moving Kakko to the third line may be worth a try, too. Kakko doesn't seem to contribute much to Zibanejad and Kreider at ES, and Kakko and Chytil have worked well together in the past. Maybe giving Kakko a bit more responsibility to create offense on his line will spark something in his game.

Yeah. I don't understand some fans relationship to the team and players. To me they go together, more or less. I've gotten tired of old acts and just been ready to see a change, but things are different this year. It's about a new type of team. We've never seen this kind of amount of promising youth before. I mean, as an example, I used to root for Erik Christensen to find his #1C game. Dunno. We have it really good right now. It's a really exciting time to be a fan.

The weirdest thing about certain voices here is that they act as if it's a competition to be GM. Who's the most ruthless GM? Who's the shrewdest? Who's got the biggest vision? Who's most pure? All good, but it gets tiresome to read when you realize they aren't actually aware that they're not the GM of the team.

GREAT overall game from the team and Geo.

Kakko must recognize no passing lane on that 3 on 1 and either rip it off the pass or make a move on the goalie. Wanting to get the slam dunk goal on a 3 on 1 is ok, but wanting it so badly you don't get a SOG is not.

The one who should have one timed Kakko's pass is Chytil who had the entire goal open. Koskinen was way out of his net to cut down Kakko's angle but when Chytil played the puck back Kakko didn't have much to shoot at anymore. He probably should have tried to find the five hole still rather than pass.

Chytil scored in a similar situation from Laf's pass in an earlier game when he shot directly. Overthinking ruined this 3-1.

Coachable moment hopefully.

Cirelli is the exact player we need. Why I'm gungho on Turcotte... think he could fill similar shoes
Cirelli doesn't have enough offense to fill the 2C slot; If you believe in Strome and want to slot Cirelli at 3C, I agree.

Re Chytil.

I think he's in that vicious cycle where the worse you play, the more you press, and the more you press, the worse you play.

I think he's playing hard and skating well, just needs a break or a puck to bounce the right way. We've seen this before from him.

Feel like he breaks out of the funk on the road trip.

McDavid & Derek Ryan just tested positive for Covid
Hopefully we don't

It will come . That's not a bad thing at this point . Get it out of the way on the road trip and gives some kids a preview with the big club . What would be bad is having our farm teams suffer from it at the same time and or the overwork hurting the groin on Shesty . I highly doubt we can avoid it completely . How many of our guys have had it already....quite a few so far I think counting the off season .

Is there a backstory to the name 'hotmessier'?
Never heard of it before unless it refers to his magic mushroom usage while he was vacationing in an exotic spot as an Oiler ....it's in his book. He went on about how he believes in the use of such as a good thing for medicinal purposes .....something along those lines ...but nothing about lines hahaha.....or at least not yet where I am in his book.

@EdJovanovski here's a real NY slice, one for me and one for Mika.

With the way omicron is going, everybody is going to get it just a matter of time. Not just with the NHL, but in general and not just in the US. The good thing is that it seems to be a very mild variant and those vaccinated have mild symptoms at best, but it will still shut a player down for the quarantine period.

Better hope when the Rangers get hit with it we have some easier games where we can afford to be without multiple important pieces. I don't think anyone wants a full shutdown at this point, although that still might happen.

Man, this board just falls in love with certain plyers like Gourde, before it was Cirelli.
Cirelli would be a monster add. A 50pt selke caliber center who could win face offs.....
Main problem is his next deal is coming up too quick.
Lindholm in Calgary would also fit like a glove. Similar problems. Both unavailable and would cost a ton.
But also due for raises at an inopportune timeframe

Except he's never had 50 points and only trended that way in one season. He's a nice player but not the 2C we need. Would be a dynamite 3C.

The list of guys that haven’t had Covid on this team is like 2 or 3 deep at this point that we even know about.

Shesterkin is one
Lafreniere is another I believe
Reaves maybe? Hunt?

I genuinely think everyone else has had it

Maybe giving Kakko a bit more responsibility to create offense on his line will spark something in his game.

I don't follow the logic. Kakko did nothing wrong but got moved to the Zib line. Kakko is playing to his role, getting up to 20 mins a night, and now he needs to be demoted to the 3rd line - for following Gallant's instructions?

Panarin Zibanejad Kakko
Lafreniere Strome Goodrow
Kreider Chytil Gauthier

Kakko gets a playmaker in Panarin to feed him, Lafreniere gets a playmaker in Strome.

Kreider continues to rack up points on the PP and is tasked with syncing with Chytil, which he has done before.

Win, win, win.

I’m certain they got it at the very start in 2019. I’m remember a “ flu bug” made the rounds. Krieder being out.
