GDT: Non-Panthers NFL Discussion part 3: Meet the new season, same as the old season?

Mugging allowed in the NFL on near the last play.. All Refs "don't want to be the story" You all need to man up and call penalties.. or just NEVER call ANYTHING.

On the one hand, I think my Pats were probably screwed on the tying TD. On the other hand, that was the dumbest shit ever on the last play.

I know the Eagles won a SB after, but man how do you let Andy Reid go. Chiefs really lucked into that hire, and then him also handpicking a potential GOAT QB.
At a certain point, almost any franchise will can a coach that has good-to-great teams that always come up short. And he still exhibits some of the issues, time management being one he's frequently dinged for, that might have been behind some of those failures in Philly. He just does happen to have one of the elite QBs of all time to mask up some of the flaws.

And even then, some would say that they probably should have already won more with Mahomes than they have. Even in the Super Bowl they won, they had to overcome double-digit deficits in each game. He's an awesome coach, but I think it's not too difficult to see why he might have been let go.

He's one of the best coaches of all time, and was even before he got to the Chiefs. Period.

Reid is an amazing coach. He even came in and saved Alex Smith's career before he got Mahomes.

His offenses are always top notch and he is a qb and rb whisperer.

Of course, he's a great coach. I never said otherwise. You wanted to know how they let him get away and I explained it as I see it. Just look at the last four seasons in Philly of what you posted. Not many coaches will survive two WC exits followed by 8-8 and 4-12.

Any team will move on from a coach that doesn't win the big game eventually. If the Chiefs hadn't come back from a late deficit in the Super Bowl, they may have done the same by now. That's just kind of how it works.

Hey, how's that QB that Carolina threw away doing?

"On Sunday afternoon, Mayfield led the Rams to a 51-14 victory over the Denver Broncos during a game in which Los Angeles didn't punt. The Rams scored on all but the last of their nine drives, when they took over on downs with six seconds left in the contest and took a knee. It was the second time under McVay that the Rams didn't punt in a game.

Mayfield was dominant on Sunday, completing 24 of 28 passes for 230 yards and two touchdowns. His completion rate of 85.7% was the second highest in a game in his career. Mayfield also set the Rams' single-game completion percentage record, passing Kurt Warner (2000) and Case Keenum (2016)."

Yeah, that makes sense.

...aaaaaaand the Broncos fired their coach!

I mean, the Broncos pretty much quit early in that game. Russell Wilson looked terrible, like worse-than-Zach-Wilson terrible. Hackett probably should have been fired at halftime.

If this is indeed the case, didn't this happen to Pronger way back when after getting hit with a slap shot to the chest? I've heard cases of it in baseball.

They (various media I listen to this morning) that it is much more common with sports with projectiles, such as baseball, hockey and soccer. That said, it occurs about 30 times a year in the US, so it is very rare.
