He'll be there when we pick.

I hope so. I was initially high on JJ McCarthy (and still am), mainly because I haven't seen alot of Penix in action. But after last nights game, I now would prefer Penix to McCarthy.

Should only be division winners in the playoffs. Too many teams make it now.
Agreed. They didnt need to add an extra playoff spot and extra regular season game. Id rather have less if that means teams are healthier come playoff time. NFL preaches "player safety" yet they add more games doesnt make sense to me.

It's still less teams than the NBA (20, counting the play in) and NHL (16) in the Playoffs.

That extra is a total of 2 games a season due to the extra Wild card round game in each Conference. They cut out a meaningless preseason game and made it a meaningful regular season game is all.

Im well aware. Football is a different breed of sport physically and id rather them cut down on regular season games if it meant we get more fully healthy teams, mainly QBs throughout the year.

A-Rod was hurt game 1 and Cousins was hurt game 8. I don't see how the extra game had anything to do with that. Lots of QBs got injured this year overall and they are already treated with kid gloves. Injuries (unfortunately) are part of the game in all sports at every level.

I'd understand getting rid of the weekly Thursday games, and keep those as only a season opener and Thanksgiving thing (teams playing them get their bye week headed into that game). Those are the games (along with the London games) that players complain about effecting their health (rest/recovery). Add to that there are already very tight rules on practices in both time and contact allowed.

Less games would mean less injuries. Go look back at the starting QBs playing last week or the week before. That makes for bad football which means it makes for bad television. NFL is getting harder and harder to watch but add injuries to that it makes it even worse.

QBs (and players as a whole) were hurt 3 weeks ago too. The only way not have injuries is to cancel the league all together.

NFL has been hard to watch for years. It isn't any better or worse than it was 20 years ago. Well actually it's better because games are much more accessible to watch. Being stuck watching either the Redskins (when I was in VA) or the Bills (when I was in BUF) for over a decade really drives that home for me.

Short of having Favre as the QB, every team gets injured at the position every few years. It might tank the season, but that's why it's important to have a quality backup QB.

after 2 torn acl's why would you spend a #11 on him? maybe 2nd rndr.
I'm not spending anything on him. My team has a really good quarterback. The vikings, on the other hand, should spend one of their first two picks on a quarterback. Your chances of picking a better player are higher if you use the 1st round pick. You also get an extra year for the rookie contract.

It's MN, they'll draft a WR and a DB with their 1sts.

I don't think they have a second 1st round pick. Looks like they've got two picks in the first 3 rounds. For a reference, packers have five picks in the first 3 rounds. Not sure what they (MN) did with their picks, but I think they know they have to take a QB even with them only having two picks in the early rounds.

I doesnt scare me that much tbh because hes a QB. He also wasnt hurt this year or last. I doubt the Bengals regret taking Joe Burrow because hes had 2 season ending injuries during his professional career.

I do wonder what the players union feels about all this. I am almost certain they were against the added game. Curious if they were on board with an expanded playoffs.

The dumping of the preseason game was the concession by the league to the players for the 17th game.

The extra Playoff games are a good thing for the players. NFL contracts are so bonus laden that it means 2 more teams of players get that bonus checked off. IIRC the practice squad guys get paid for another week too.
