Considering this is a "conditional pick" I dont know how the ruling would work because Colorado doesnt own a 1st or 2nd round pick this year. They were both traded to acquire Semyon Varlamov last offseason. Because it wasnt needed I dont know if this is vetoed or not because they used an asset they dont have but ended up not needing it because Mueller signed in Pit. So how does this work and what would have happened had he not signed and the ghost pick was transferred to Pit?

Completely incorrect. The Avs DID NOT trade their 2012 2nd(when will people get this??) They gave WSH either a choice of Bostons 2012 2nd(acquired from Leafs for Liles who acquired for in the Kaberle trade) OR THE AVS 2013 2nd. Sheesh...at least make sure you have it right if you post stuff like this.

Thats my fault. I knew the BOS pick was conditional on if they won the cup or not so I just assumed that it was their 2011 pick and once TOR traded it away I didnt really think about it ever again. I just assumed it had already been used.

Interesting note from that article. In the last or second to last paragraph it says Varlamov was considering playing in the KHL (which most people knew) and his choices were between Yaroslavl Lokomotiv and some other team. Had Varlamov joined the Lokomotiv he would be dead right now.... The teams plane crashed on their way to their first game of the season. Wow, close call.

Semin never said he wouldn't player here and was kind of shocked when his agent came out and said that stuff. He did say that it depends on the coach, system, and how he will be used. I hired Crawford who has been very good with star players.
