The Blue Jackets have acquired the 1st overall pick in exchange for the 2nd overall pick + Marc Methot. Marc was not part of our plans moving forward with the acquisition of Ekman-Larsson and Rundblad and we felt we had to make sure we would have our choice of any prospect in this draft!

I Confirm that I will be able to run the 2012 NHL Entry Draft on Friday, June 1st at 5:00 PM.



Please send a list of players that you would like to draft if you cannot make it to the draft at this time. As for Friday, We will at the very least complete 2 rounds of the draft. Then the other 2 rounds will be doen on Saturday. If you cannot make it to any of the drafts, please send a list, in order of the amount of interest in the player, for the draft. At which point, I will make the selection for you based on the first player on your list that is available.

The are excited about this deal. We are happy to have acquired a top young talent in the form of Keith Yandle who can look forward to playing alongside rugged blue liner Dion Phaneuf. We also acquired Antoine Vermette who we believe is a "ladder player" meaning he can play up and down our lineup. Unless a trade is made we currently have him slotted as our #2 center.

We would like to thank Mikhail, Nazem, Cody, and Josh. Mikhail has been a tremendous find for our team, Nazem was a top pick that we hoped to have flourish with us but unfortunately that isn't the case. Cody had a solid season with us but we feel Keith can replace Cody's skill set, and Josh Leivo, one of our picks last summer. We are sorry to see you leave but hope you the best in your future endeavors with PHX and any other team.
