His overall game reminds me a lot of Roman Josi
Dobson looked pretty good in the first game against the speedy Bolts.
There is no doubt in my mind that he did not look out of place and was always envisioning the play to do ahead.
He's got the speed and the vision to couple with a stick to stick first pass 99% of the time.

He really is a beaut. Watching him play with such confidence this deep into the postseason is extremely impressive. Just smooth - and his ability to actually put shots on net is pretty refreshing. I've had high hopes for him defensively ever since drafting him, but the offensive potential is pretty damn exciting.

Noah definitely needs to add some man muscle this off season, he makes the right play most of the time but he is not winning board battles. Whenever our season ends, he needs to hit the weight room and put on a good 10 pounds.

That's to be expected, and he certainly has the frame for it. All the signs are extremely encouraging though. The confidence he has not only jumping up into the play offensively but being able to turn away from danger in his own zone to slow down the play. He's had his share of mistakes but as he grows physically and gains more experience, I think he could end up being one of the most complete defensemen in the league. This run at the very least was a great learning experience for him.

Dobson is right on track, this playoff run is going to be huge for his development. It's pretty obvious his biggest problem is he needs more strength and mass. The whole COVID setback certainly didn't help him and coupled with the rigors of the season took a toll on him, he was never the same as he was in the beginning of the season. Meathead diet this offseason, and get right physically for him.

I know it was a development year for Dobson, but it was clear he's a kid still feeling his way through things. There was nothing fancy to his game this year and especially offensively, he automatically made the smart and simple plays to just keep the flow going. I'd like to see a more confident player next year, take the training wheels off. He will never be fully unleashed under Trotz for the immediate future, but there is a lot of room to give the kid more leash to show off the skills.

I thought Dobson played pretty good this postseason. He did make some mistakes, but its to be expected with a 21 year old rookie. He also made some fantastic plays and he is pur best weapon on the blueline.

He has to be our #1PPQB next season. Im expecting a big step forward from Dobby.

Tip of the iceberg for the kid. He did a lot of good things and has flashed ability that makes me drool. After watching Pietrangelo in this year's playoffs, Dobson could be a high impact offensive contributor in his more seasoned and confident form. Dobber is ahead of the curve for his age, I think we tend to forget that sometimes. Dahlin and Hughes are the only ones that are ahead of Noah right now from that 2018 class. 6'4 RHD's with Dobson's skillset are very rare. Pietrangelo, Jones, Hamilton, Parayko aside... who else is there? Seider is an impressive prospect, who else is there in the prospect ranks that profiles similarly?

I am as bullish as ever on the kid.

Me too. I think we saw flashes of him being a good 2-way defenseman. The fact that when down a goal or in a tie game in 6 & 7 Trotz was getting Dobson on the ice in the last minutes of the 3rd period is a big change from the end of the regular season. I think the best is yet to come for this kid.

There is no reason to not expect him to play higher in the line up next year, if Leddy is gone, I would try to find a LD partner of length and D play to pair with him. I would like an Edmunson type of pick up either through trade or more likely free agency. I think Bolduc is 1-2 more years away, otherwise he would be an interesting long range partner. Though Trotz does have a way of developing D. Here is a name that I am throwing out there. Chara.

Kids gonna be a good one.

I think the left side gets switched up next season, and yes Winter I think a Edmundson type would work as a partner.

The outlook stays the same for me, he still needs to grow into his body. Having said that, led our D in points in the post season. I expect him to lead us in points on the back end going forward

As PW said this kid is way ahead of the curve for his age. We’re talking about a 21 year old defenseman with 2 deep playoff runs under his belt, that’s nothing to scoff at.

The great Denis Potvin once said it takes around 200 games before a dman becomes truly comfortable in the NHL. Dobson is gonna be fantastic.

The one UFA I thought of that was available to play with Dobson was Chara. There was no better advertisement to a vet going to a team than the Isles playoffs run. He could come in on a 1M 1 year contract. Buy some time for Bolduc to hopefully take the next step in BP. I am very high on Bolduc to become the eventually partner to Dobson.

Dobson is cheating that system too getting around 40 playoff games to speed it up

He had to transition out of the Q where he was playing 30 minutes a game when he was 19 to only getting 15 minutes as he broke into the nhl. So he needs to add the strength to play the style of game he did in the Q. Definitely doable.

still stinks that the isles lost on a SHG where Bailey and Palmeri got caught focusing on Killorn and ignoring the trailer in Gourde. Expected better from a defensively structured team. Dman had Killorn, so Bailey if he’s not looking for a trailer needed to be aggressive and attack Killorn the puck carriers to get the puck off him. Palmer I in no mans land in front of Varly. Flat footed and too far out from Gourde to do anything.
