Neutral zone coverage was the best I've seen from these Jets -
We know the scoring is there - now we are starting to see zone coverage that shuts teams down before they can create anything.
Played a weaker team tonight but you can see it coming together.
Oh, and KC is zoned in right now - call it hockey instinct - he makes it look easy - and he is a blast to watch.

I dont see any reason right now why the jets cant be the top seed in western conference this year

This is very high praise, especially coming from the Objective Poster, and I 100 % agree. I don't see any weaknesses, and this team can go all the way in my opinion.

Was at game, just a few thoughts;

- Connor upped a level this year. He's like Nintendo super Mario when he gets a star to go shiny and run faster.
- Dubois has dispelled any concern I had about him from last year
- Morrissey has such confidence playing with Schmidt. While it's still concerning defensively at times, I believe they'll figure it out by playoffs.
- I thoughts Harkins would improve but for some reason the game is hard for him this year.
- I hated the idea of 11-7, but it seems to help the guys who were out early this year, giving them some ice they might need. Covid or not. We have good talent at the top that it might not hurt to roll them and let them get their legs and hands in order for the long stretch.
- oh, and Comrie is doing well. This season might have been his last shot and he's playing like a goalie who knows it. Hopefully it's nowhere but up from here.

Well that was a good old fashioned shit kicking. Yeah the Hawks weren't great but we gave them nothing all night and played perhaps the best and most complete game that we have played in years.

Comrie: He didn't have to break a sweat tonight but played well when called upon. I feel bad that he didn't get the shutout, Wheeler owes Comrie dinner for being soft on his man there.

Morrissey/Schmidt: Another great night by this pairing. JoMo was fantastic, terrific defense and his link up play in the offensive zone was fantastic. Schmidt is money in the nz and the offensive end but still is a bit loose at times with his breakouts in his end.

Pionk/Dillon: Better game by this pairing but I think they still have some work to do. Nice goal for Pionk and he was better in his end tonight. Dillion was physical and sound in his end.

Stanley/Beau/DeMelo: These guys did their job in the dzone and on the PK. I think all played a real responsible game

Conner/Svech/Dubois: This line had a great night despite not putting up a lot of goals. Conner was flying and controlling the puck. Dubois was a force again using his speed, size and strength to create opportunities. Svech played a smart game and had some good opportunities himself.

Copp/Ehlers/Stastny: Copp had himself a night, two great passes on those goals and had his usual positional sound game outside of that. Stastny played another good two way game and is looking more comfortable on the wing now. Ehlers was real good and it was nice to see him jump into the play and get that goal.

Wheeler/Scheifele/Lowry: That is one of the most complete games I've seen Mark play. He was back tracking hard, good in his end and was also creating a lot in the ozone. I want to see more of this version. Lowry was fine both ways but really doesn't do much in the offensive end. Wheeler was probably our least effective player in the top 9 tonight but outside of some loose plays he was also good.

Harkins was so so again and bobbled some pucks. Toninato did a nice job on the PK and scored a nice goal.

Except maybe coaching. I don’t see mo adjusting well in game. I also think a d goes down beau goes in and Heinola is a moose all season.

10 games in.

PLD: He is a game changer for the Jet. He gives us that power forward that can win you SCs.

Connor: What can you say? If this play continues is Connor may be a top 5 winger in the league.

Copp: Every game Copp is making the argument that the Jets must resign him. Not is he only proving he IS a top 6 forward but he is proving that he maybe a top 6 C. It may be early but I think I may have to eat some crow when it comes to Copp.

Ehlers: So far a disappointing season. He has not been terrible but he can be so much better. I keep waiting for the dam to break but so far it has not happen. Tonight I thought he was the worst player on his line.

Stastny: Every game he is the smartest guy on the ice. Stastny may have slowed down a lot but his positioning and superior hockey sense is why he can still produce. Copp and Stasts have great chemistry.

Scheifele: It has been only 4 games for him so I will reserve judgment. So far not impressed. My buddy joked tonight that if the players didn't have numbers on their jerseys you would know that Scheifele's line is on the ice because they are the line that is always hemmed in their own end.

Wheeler: Read above. Father time has really hit Wheeler and unlike Stastny he does not have the hockey sense to adjust his game to make up for his lack of speed. I hope he proves me wrong.

The rest of the forward are interchangeable. Lowry has not improved Scheifele and Wheeler's 200 foot game so far.

JoMo: May yet prove he is a real NHL #1 D. His play has been great so far this year. His confidence in the O zone handling the puck should increase his point totals big time.

Schmidt: Comes as advertise. Great transition and passing D. Not great in our own end. JoMo and Schmidt work well together.

Pinok: No so good so far this season but was OK tonight. Jets need last year's Pionk to show up.

Dillion: Not impressed. Servable D but so far Dillion and Pionk don't seem to click. Willing to give them more time to figure things out.

Stanley and DeMelo: OK 3rd pairing. Don't notice them most games so that is a good thing.

Helle: Has not been good but we are winning despite his play. He WILL figure it out.

Comrie: Very pleasant surprised! He is doing his job and may be solidifying his place as a decent NHL backup goalie. Good for him.

PP: having 2 really good PP units is awesome!

PK: Work in progress. Need big time improvement.

Fair enough, not many teams are ever going to truly dominate an entire game from start to finish though. Complete 60 mins is more an expression than anything
Sorry. I’m extremely literal so if they played 54 minutes hard I’d still be like that’s not 60.

Awesome game, have to give it up to Comrie. He was basically ridiculed all off-season, myself included.

Also wanted to say sorry to Josh Morrissey. I was very critical of his game last year, I remember watching his first presser in January of 2021 and he looked like he was in really rough shape mentally. I hated myself for speculating but my mind wandered a little bit, shame on me. I wouldn't wish what he had to go through on my worst enemy. Just glad to see Josh having fun out there again.

Love Lurch but only as a shutdown C, he just has no offensive chops whatsoever. Expecting Scheifele to carry both him and Wheeler is a herculean task.

Wow! Scheif 22:40 to lead all Jets time on ice. Insane.

Perhaps PLD deserves a little more ice to balance this out a little?

Well that was a total beat down. It’s fun to watch a game occasionally where we blow a team out and don’t have to clench.
There’s just not enough good things to say about the game they played tonight.

Maybe last year wasn’t a fluke for Copp after all.

Fun game to watch. More of this tomorrow night please.

Our Lead Administrator met him a few years back. He was in a restaurant and a glass of water spilled on his lap. She was there with her teenage daughters and they encouraged her to approach him.

She walked up with a smile and said, “I think you pissed yourself! Lahey” And without a pause he replies, “So what if I did bitch, I am the Liquor!” they all burst out laughing.

He then agreed to take a bunch of pictures with them. I thought that was so Canadian.

RIP John Dunsworth
Appropriate considering our opponent tonight:

Been getting lucky with the goals called back the last few games.

This game could’ve been very different if they got that late first. Goal
How does the rules being followed correctly make us lucky? It was offside, had both those plays the last two games been called correctly at the time, we aren’t even talking about it.

No luck involved.
