Missed most of the game as I was harvesting/trimming. Happy to see they won.

Probably miss most of the game tomorrow night too between working and hopefully catching the Canelo vs Plant fight.

You trim as soon as you harvest or let it hang awhile?

Fun game.
Jets were good - but Hawks are really bad.
We are going to have to pay to keep Copp. It looks like top 6 last year was neither a fluke nor a one-off.

That Kyle Connor is pretty good, eh? Up to 16 points in 10 games.

Harkins always leaves me wanting more. If we keep going 11-7 when Helle comes back, Ves should be in over him.

I think he leaves you wanting more because he keeps coming so close to delivering more. He is around the puck, on the puck, involved. One day soon it is going to fall into place for him and he will start delivering more. JMO

If Helle is not healthy do the Jets dare put Berdin in the pipes, or is it more likely Brick in B2B

Edit: He was not worked all that hard tonight.

Fair enough, not many teams are ever going to truly dominate an entire game from start to finish though. Complete 60 mins is more an expression than anything

No it isn't.
You don't need to dominate for all 60 minutes, or even any of the 60 minutes, to play a 60 minute game. It means playing to your ability level, consistently all the way through. Not taking a period or two off, not losing your rhythm, or your grip, or coasting, or whatever you want to call it.

Scheifele playing 22+ isn’t an issue, he’s still this teams leader offensively and it’s important to get him rolling after being out as long as he was. Complaints about him are again greatly outsized.

PLD needs more than 15 though, Mo needs to figure that out.

Mo still needs to get 55 away from 26 but who is going to saddle with Wheeler. He has completely fallen off a cliff and it’s not getting any better. His puck retention skills, speed, quickness and overall strength have just deteriorated. He wasn’t awful by any means and his ice time was about right, but he’s not making anything happen.

Team was great through the middle of the ice. The Jets just play so much better when they’re closing gaps and supporting. Not rocket science though, every team does.
Zone exits were really quick and mostly clean. This skilled mobile defense is starting to show itself more each game. Support down low was really good as well. D and Centres had outlets below the hashmarks almost all night. Transition was great too, they threw the puck wide a lot and the passing was crisp. Regroup was also really good on the night.

Lots of great contributors tonight but Copp continues to impress me. He plays such a simple game but does everything right so often. Just plays a North/South game, fills lanes, hits the open spaces and is always on the right side of the puck.

Nice job by Comrie. He looked very comfortable.

Yeah I'm not sure what to do with the captain other then hope he has another gear in him. He and Lowry are imo the two weak links in our top 9 scheme atm. I think Scech has really started to get comfortable here and is playing a real solid link up game with Dubois and Conner.

I am not worried about Mark as I think he's playing good hockey but Lowry doesn't create any offense and Blake isn't what he once was. I would like to see Mark with Ves and Perfetti at some point later in the year.

Somebody mentioned this earlier, but i cant agree enough.

The Islanders will be a nice test for these current line ups and should help us determine their legitimacy moving forward in the season.

Looking forward to testing it's reliability against a true contender.

Otherwise, if it fails. It's likely that we witness a Mo recalibration to former lines that could set us back a bit into a more sobering reality of what our team truly is.

Really hoping it fairs well and that all is good in Jetsville.

Till next game.

Much better results from the first 10 games than I feared after the first couple of games. Still some issues to work on, but how we play when entering the playoffs is what matters. For the moment I will just enjoy the 3 lines with offensive options and see how this will develope

I always give it 10 games before my first report but this season I will give it 11 games. My review would be a bit too flowery after last nights beat down of a lifeless opponent.

It will be fun seeing this Jets team stress tested against Carolina, NYI, or a red hot Oilers group etc.

6-2-2 is not lost on me even though our schedule has been soft.

I will dig in more after I see this new look Jets team v Barry and the Isles.

I truly hope we continue to run three balanced lines. I feel like it creates a healthier atmosphere somehow without guys being so typecast for roles: Copp with laser passes, Connor helping on backcheck, Lowry chipping in offense etc. It pushes everyone to compete.

It also gives the opportunity for upcoming guys to learn to play with better players and play up to their potential, rather than try to slog their way up the lineup on checking lines or with worse players.

Connor looks ridiculous this year...

Morrissey also looks back to his old self lately. He looks like he's thinking faster and playing by instinct again.

It's almost like some of us have been begging for 3 scoring lines for years and years now... Good to see we were right. :naughty: (You can number them any way you like - it doesn't matter) - How can you stop a constant rotation between Schief, KFC, Ehlers, PLD, Copp - the waves keep crashing on the shore.

I agree with this. I have to think a lot of us here have some high level sports experience and know that playing against the team with "the scoring guy" was usually pretty easy because of how predictable it was. Playing against teams where any line could do anything is scary.

Obviously I'm no NHLer but I have to think the principle is the same...

For those that think Lowry is sucking the offense out of Scheif and Wheels I sure hope you aren’t the same people who said Andrew Copp isn’t a top 6 player :naughty:.

Ok I am kind of funning everyone but all PMo had to do was reassign Andrew and play him in a top 6 roll with offensively oriented players and he has flourished. He is probably the most versatile forward on the team.

For the record I don’t blame Paul because a prime Copp-Lowry was probably our 2nd most effective line.

That being said I am digging this balanced top 9 while it lasts.

Yeah Morrissey has looked solid this year. I though pionk and Dillon had solid games toobut the blackhawks really didn't do much and looked bad overall.
