Except multiple GMs are coming out saying that they would've/did offer more.

So it's more like Chia fell in love with Larsson than he didn't value Hall much.

I'm not saying Edmonton didn't get robbed, because they absolutely could have/ should have gotten a better return. I am saying that in the context of all the recent trade speculation, this trade feels like justification.

Disregard my username Adam Larsson is the type of defensman the Oilers needed. This guy will play 25+ mins a night of flawless hockey. And he has potential for much more offense. This is isn't the the steal peop!e think it is. Although I love having Taylor Hall, guess I gotta change my username.

I guess I gotta say this both teams are better today than they were yesterday.

Probably Pulock + 1st

EDM wanted a more expiernce defenseman and the pick doesn't mean much for them.

No way Islanders offered Pulock + a first round pick, that's WAY more than just Larsson. Mark my words, Pulock will be better than Larsson in a year's time, all by himself. Apparently the Oilers asked for Hamonic and the Isles said no. Probably offered Calvin de Haan +

Both teams address area's of need. This is going to take a bit to sink in but this was McDavids team once they drafted him, Hall had the chance to make this his team and never stepped up. Sucks losing Hall but we needed a guy like Larsson from what i've been reading NJ fans insight on him. Jersey will love Hall guy can take over games, you have nothing like him enjoy.

I would be excited for the prospect of Klefbom-Larsson, if I was an Oilers fan. I think this will work out well for them.

Value wise, Edmonton lost, and lost big time. I don't think anyone doubts that. Unless something massive was added to Larsson (and I think not), then yeah, no questions asked, Edmonton loses when it comes to the value of the pieces.

However, this will make Edmonton a better team long term. As good as Hall is (and he's a tremendous player) Edmonton desperately needed a top 4 RHD if they were going to move forward. And while I'm sure Edmonton fans and management all wished they could have moved Eberle or RNH, Shero has usually been one to take full advantage of the situations and did so here. Sucks to lose Hall - especially for someone who's not really all that flashy in Larsson... but I think overall this makes Edmonton a better team. So good on Chia for making the tough choice and addressing something that's been a serious need for this team.

Here is why Chia is one of the worst GMs in the NHL.

Has no traded both Seguin and Hall for terrible returns..

Nope. I'm furious. This is going to look bad in a few years. Hall is one dimensional player with no IQ.

This. I've always said he thinks slower than his feet. Once his speed drops off his production is going straight down. He will need to reinvent his game to play into his 30s at a high level.

Trade looks bad but it had to happen with the amount of talent up front and every team knowing you need D so pretty much holding the oilers hostage.

Flawless hockey wouldn't have negative defensive stats

Edmonton could have snagged a pick or prospect at least along with Larsson at least. Larsson is going to have a lot of pressure on him.

If I am Shero, I say take it or leave it. My opinion, the Devils had all the power here, this trade makes Edmonton better no matter how lopsided it may seem. Shero got a steal of a deal and still made Edmonton a better team. The ultimate win win. And in short order Edmonton fans will love this deal.

Guess Dregger was right, Either everyone overvalued Hall or everyone devalued Larson.

And if other GMs had better deals then oilers would have taken them. DO you people really think that Chia didn't try to get a better offer from others after he got the Larson offer?

I do feel sad for Larson though. He enters a city that thinks he's garbage and not worth much. If he doesn't live up to the fans stupidly high standards this seasons he will be ripped a part. Oiler fans going for a self fulfilling prophecy I guess..:shakehead

On the other hand he had very good chemistry with Henrique and hopefully they get that going again. I bet Henrique will be ecstatic he got his buddy back.

Just wow. At face value it looks more than it is, but Larsson is no joke. Most D-man take time to develop and grow into their role. Oilers will see the payoff in a season or two.

I think Hall wore out his welcome in Edmonton. He's got a personality that wears on people. Still a great trade for NJ though.

Where are all of the people who told me I was crazy about Hall's value now???? This is actually a good deal for the Oilers and I hate it. Not only do they get a good young D man but they got rid of a serious problem to boot.

Crazy people are acting like Edmonton moving Hall for that return is no big deal, they were bottom 5 goals for in the league the last 5 years with him. Not as if that lineup is flush with goal scorers.

Not having the D to help move the puck forward will stifle the offense just as much as not having enough goal scoring talent up front to put the puck in the net.

With McDavid, Draisaitl and Eberle, they have the guys to put the puck in the net if they can get the puck.

No one thinks Larsson is garbage, he just isn't worth giving up Taylor Hall.
