I love Taylor Hall. Not gonna love watching my boys play him, but really going to enjoy watching him play more, in general.

Edmonton will be the better team after all of this; but the fact should remain the same - they traded a $100.00 for a $50.00.

They can now sign Lucic, build a heavier team - go in a different direction (Hall's team). And ultimately get better. But Larsson isn't the guy - Weber and Subban are THE guy. I find it funny that they dropped at the same time. Both now known to be available, AND Edmonton misses on the big fish...

Just a weird event.

Hall for either of those two and I would be gratting them the next three Cups. But that's none of my business

Maybe, maybe. I remember NJD fans wanting to get rid of this kid for next to nothing a year ago.

One or two know nothings maybe, but that was never the consensus opinion of Devils fans and it's revisionist history to claim so. The vast majority thought he was still developing and wanted to keep him on the team, plain and simple.

Anyone who knows me knows I didn't want to move Hall, period.

That said people are really underrating Adam Larsson and a Klefbom - Larsson gives our a legitimate top pairing for the next 10 years.

We weren't going to win a Taylor Hall trade on value. That said this is better than the rumored Hall for Hamonic.

Nope. I'm furious. This is going to look bad in a few years. Hall is one dimensional player with no IQ.

If he has no IQ, he must have the athleticism of Lindros or LeBron James to put up the stats he does.

NHL forwards, 2012-16, min 1,000 minutes, ranked by 5v5 PTS/60:
1. Sidney Crosby: 2.71
2. Jamie Benn: 2.54
3. Taylor Hall: 2.49

I agree it's not as awful as people make it out to be. I'm not sure it's a good deal for the Oilers though.

Hall is a great scorer. But he's also one of the laziest players you'll see on the defensive side. He won't fight for pucks. And he doesn't know the meaning of the word backcheck. Maybe that will change in NJ.

He WAS a lazy player. His effort on the defensive side of the game drastically improved this last season. NJ got themselves a great player at a great price.

Brutal. Larsson is another of those overrated dmans from Devils fans.

Yeah of course, it's just unethical.

His verbal agreement presumably would have been just as unethical. It's unlikely any player would agree to sign with a team without any idea the length and dollars they'd be receiving, yet such talk is against the rules. The reality is that if what we were told yesterday is true then they definitely talked details (which I'm sure is what always happens during this period, rules be damned). It's very unlikely he would break his commitment. Such things are very rare in sports. They are very bad for the relationships GM's and agents around the league.

At least we won't have to hear about how duchene doesn't pass to hall or how hall is better.

Not that I'm putting Larsson in the same category as Luke Schenn, but this trade reminds me a lot of the Schenn/JVR trade. Only neither Schenn or JVR are as good as Larsson/Hall. I do know this having a 90point LW is something special and not worth a top 4 Dman. Oilers were desperate and NJ caught them in a desperate moment. Sure the Oilers can afford it, but I believe they took a step back today.

Hall has never hit 90 points, 80 once but has not shown to be back at that level since.

That pretty much says it all. If Hall were on even a bubble team for the past 5 years he would be considered on of the best players in the league.

After all of the Seguin vs. Hall debate at the time of the draft,
it's ironic how Chiarelli ended up trading both of them for underwhelming returns.

That's a pretty amazing reputation he's building for himself there. I feel like he's regretting it as we type - not that he made a big trade for a defenceman, but the exact player going back to Edmonton.

People were talking about Subban as a possible trade option. What happened there?

And what about Shea Weber? He's got to be the most surprising name moved because there were literally NO RUMOURS of that happening. Why didn't a Hall-Weber trade happen?

No way Islanders offered Pulock + a first round pick, that's WAY more than just Larsson. Mark my words, Pulock will be better than Larsson in a year's time, all by himself. Apparently the Oilers asked for Hamonic and the Isles said no. Probably offered Calvin de Haan +

Doubt it as rumour had it nyi offered more so it couldn't have been a deal built around de Haan.
