Confirmed Trade: [NJD/EDM] Taylor Hall for Adam Larsson ‎- Part 2

This is the kind of move that speeds up rebuilds. Devils got a star for a good player, but a defensive dman with average offensive skills. Shero crushed it
 
Just when you think Edmonton might be getting their heads out of their *****. Nope. Finally trade one of a glut of forwards for a dman and it's for this dude? Lol

We didn't trade Hall because of cap space. We needed a defenseman

Younger > Older

Hall has 3 elite seasons left and then probably 3 more good season of high offensive production.

Larsson will be on the Oilers right side top-4 for the next decade.

This deal is a lot closer than some think.

To be fair, he is going to Edmonton, although on the flip side, he's leaving Jersey.

He's likely bummed out because they told him he was going out West, and he thought he'd be in shorts and flipflops all year :sarcasm:

People hate this trade in Edmonton, but you know what, they got better today. Not sure how many one dimensional scoring forwards a team can have before it does nothing for the team. Clearly Eberle has little value in the league, so I think their only major trade chip was like Hall, Draisaitl and the 4th before they used it.

If Edmonton goes out and gives Lucic and Demers a contract, they'll be a significantly better team than they were last year. I can guarantee that; Larsson, Sekera, Demers and Klefbom actually looks like an NHL top 4.
 
New Jersey fan's will be happy to have Hall. That said everyone pooping on the deal is ignoring what the fans in Jersey are saying. Edmonton just got a top pairing RD with an excellent cap hit.

Can I have the lotto numbers really while you're at it? No way you spin it we got hosed. Worst then the Pronger trade.
 
Value-wise, this isn't good for the Oilers. Not sure if Larsson is quite the the go-to guy for their defensive issues as things are right now. Maybe he could be the Oilers' no.1 guy in the future? Right now I only see Chiarelli saving somewhere around $1.85M in cap-space with this trade. Hall was very productive for a very bad Oilers squad and will provide much needed scoring for NJ's somewhat underwhelming forward corps. Right now it's a win for NJ.

U do realize Hall is 24 and Larsson is 23?

Glad I am not the only one that sees this. If they get Lucic, this is a major win for Edmonton. They will be a much better team after those moves.
 
I wish bergevin woud fleece Pulju from chiarelli now

That's if you're comparing a 1st line winger to a 1st line dman.

In this case it's more like comparing a star 1st line winger vs a 2nd pairing defenceman. I like Larsson, but this is a brutal trade.
 
Classic HF, tell Oilers nobody will trade a #1 defenceman for Taylor Hall. Trade him for a #2 and everyone says should have gotten a #1. Good times

No they didn't. He isn't a true top pairing D. He's a solid third. He has no offense and he isn't dynamic. He will not make a significant difference as EDM needed someone that was awesome in transition and solid defensively. They did not get that, but they gave up a lot.

Larsson is incredibly underwhelming.
