For all those that think Edmonton got robbed. I may agree hat a plus should of come Edmontons way. But at the same time I have been on this board for years telling my oil faithfull that Hall is nothing but CANCER. I have been ripped on here for speaking what I personally know about this douch bag. Can't be happier righ now. The cancer has been removed and now the cultural of this team can thrive. Good luck New Jersey you got a player hat can drive a line by himself with the talent he has. But you also got a complete douch bag.

I heard that as well.

Bottom line is Hall is good at forward. Larsson is good at defense.
Oilers are better today.

Guess Dregger was right, Either everyone overvalued Hall or everyone devalued Larson.

And if other GMs had better deals then oilers would have taken them. DO you people really think that Chia didn't try to get a better offer from others after he got the Larson offer?

I do feel sad for Larson though. He enters a city that thinks he's garbage and not worth much. If he doesn't live up to the fans stupidly high standards this seasons he will be ripped a part. Oiler fans going for a self fulfilling prophecy I guess..:shakehead
Everyone devalued Larsson. And Shero has always been a good trade negotiator.

Can somebody clear something up for me?

If Lucic verbally said to the Oilers he would sign on July 1, it's still within his right to change his mind correct? As long as he hasn't put pen to paper?

Not that I'm putting Larsson in the same category as Luke Schenn, but this trade reminds me a lot of the Schenn/JVR trade. Only neither Schenn or JVR are as good as Larsson/Hall. I do know this having a 90point LW is something special and not worth a top 4 Dman. Oilers were desperate and NJ caught them in a desperate moment. Sure the Oilers can afford it, but I believe they took a step back today.

I think Hall wore out his welcome in Edmonton. He's got a personality that wears on people. Still a great trade for NJ though.

And what personality is that?

Comments like these and the ones insinuating he's a locker room cancer are infuriatingly stupid and not based at all on a shred of reality or insight.

Larsson's a good player, but the Oilers got hosed.

Disregard my username Adam Larsson is the type of defensman the Oilers needed. This guy will play 25+ mins a night of flawless hockey. And he has potential for much more offense. This is isn't the the steal peop!e think it is. Although I love having Taylor Hall, guess I gotta change my username.

I guess I gotta say this both teams are better today than they were yesterday.

He will not play flawless hockey. He is not a number 1 D xD

Seriously? Of all the potential offers for Hall that they may have had on the table this is supposed to be best value.. in what world? why? I don't get it.

Edmonton will be the better team after all of this; but the fact should remain the same - they traded a $100.00 for a $50.00.

They can now sign Lucic, build a heavier team - go in a different direction (Hall's team). And ultimately get better. But Larsson isn't the guy - Weber and Subban are THE guy. I find it funny that they dropped at the same time. Both now known to be available, AND Edmonton misses on the big fish...

Just a weird event.

Well the positive news for the Oilers fans is some times the team that appeared to have been robbed at the time of the deal ends up winning long term. For instance people thought CBJ got robbed for Nash and that was one of the best things to happen to them.

I'd do Nash for Dubinsky straight up right now (Of course CBJ wouldnt)

Complete fleece by NJ.

A top line winger for a three D is hilarious. But the fact remains this helps shore up a huge hole for the Oilers.

Still think they don't make the playoffs tho unless they own FA friday

Love these initial reactions from thread 1...hahahahahahahahaha

Larsson +++ no doubt.

They were talking about this big time yesterday on Oilers Now radio show.

Wow!

So, Larsson+ or Severson++ for Hall?

Larsson+. Great for Edmonton, could be just as good for Jersey.

it has to be more then Larson

Larsson and Qunneville and I'll do it.

There should be a major add on Hall to get Larsson if this happens.

Larsson + Zacha?

Larsson + Quenneville + 2nd before Edmonton should even consider.

Wonder what else the bevs have to give to get Hall. Larsson has never lived up to his billing while Hall is the much better player. Does this mean Lucic is going to Ed?

LOL Oilers getting fleeced

Maybe its Zacha + Larsson?

Wow, Edmonton will definitely get a big return! Larsson ++

In all fairness though, I think Edmonton fans will be happy with Larsson. As long as there's no huge difference to playing out there that might affect his game like it did Fayne.

There are way too many people under rating Larsson in this thread. Devils fans don't exactly seem thrilled about this deal, which should tell everyone else everything they need to know.

Larsson played 22:30 (thus top pair), faced the toughest competition and zone starts, and walked away a +15 on a team that finished with a -20 goal differential. So he only had 18 points, he had 24 the year before, and that's with a Devils team severely lacking in forward talent. No, the Oilers haven't finished very high in goals for the past few years, but that's what happens when you have little/no D men that can competently exit the zone. It's a perfect marriage - Larsson will get the puck moving up ice a lot quicker to help our forwards get more opportunities, our forwards will cash in more often and boost Larsson's offensive numbers.

Can't wait to see Klefbom-Larsson paired together.

Where are all of the people who told me I was crazy about Hall's value now???? This is actually a good deal for the Oilers and I hate it. Not only do they get a good young D man but they got rid of a serious problem to boot.

You are wrong about his value...Everybody on this board is up in arms about how the Oilers get fleeced/Chiarelli sucks. It just reaffirms that the value in the trade was horrible.

I agree it's not as awful as people make it out to be. I'm not sure it's a good deal for the Oilers though.

Hall is a great scorer. But he's also one of the laziest players you'll see on the defensive side. He won't fight for pucks. And he doesn't know the meaning of the word backcheck. Maybe that will change in NJ.
