The Oilers could've gotten way more for Hall, just a straight up one for one?

List the teams that were offering more ? It been rumoured since before the draft Hall was available . GM's would of known he is available . So please list all these teams that would have paid more .

RHD is the most sought after commodity in the NHL , Wingers not so much . In a vacuum Hall may have more value but if Edmonton wins more next year how can you say they lost the trade ?

As much as I think hall will be a stud (I really think he could get 85+ points and develop into a more complete player under Hynes - people forget he had 80 points a year ago on a real bad oilers team), I think a transaction like this was a must for the Oilers. I really think Larsson is underrated here, and can be a top pairing defenseman. A lot of D take longer to develop, but it seems like Larsson's game is really rounding out, and I think his strong first pass will really help Edmonton forwards. For Larsson doubters, see http://www.allaboutthejersey.com/2016/2/12/10974744/new-top-dog-adam-larsson

Assuming Lucic and Demers sign, a top 6 and top 4 like this is pretty good. Still got some work to do, but getting there...

Lucic - Mcdavid - Eberle
Draisaitl - RNH - Puljujarvi

Klefbom - Larsson
Sekera - Demers

Yea but Tampa wouldn't move Hedman for Hall, I'm a bit surprised Habs didn't move Subban for Hall, at this point I'd rather have Hall than Weber.
Montreal wanted to replace subban with a person that actually plays his position. Chances are management just didn't like him so they got the best replacement rhd they could.

If he can pass the puck out of our end and get it near one of the forwards sticks he will double his points this next year.

If he get's any PP time he will double his points. There is not a doubt in my mind that he can put up 40 points if he's getting consistent PP time.

I feel sort of bad for Larsson, feels like if he doesn't overachieve oiler's fans are going to rip him apart. Whether adam likes it or not, he'll always be the guy they traded taylor hall for.

wishing him tons of luck in edmonton.

I am amused by the peanut gallery citicizing this deal for the Oilers. These are the same people that have told us for 2 years we would have to lose a deal in order to make the team better. So now that the Oil did exactly that we will get to see if you rocket scientists were right. Hopefully this will impove the team.

We didn't say that you had to make a bad trade did we? :)

Lmao Oil.

I get they have a surplus of forwards. I get that. But if you have a surplus of that, DON'T TRADE YOUR TOP SCORER OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS!

I'm not even an Oilers fan and this trade pisses me off for how shortsighted it is. If it were RNH, a guy who's a 2C now, it'd make much more sense. If it were Yakupov, it'd be a solid trade. But not Hall. Not a top level left winger in exchange for a guy who's good defensively, but isn't much of an offensive threat.

Smh Oilers.

SMH.

Larsson will put up more points on the Oil guaranteed. Way more talent at forward than NJ. He was not put in a position to succeed offensively at all in NJ. Only 20% o zone starts and less than 10 seconds average pp toi/game. There is no way imo that TMac uses Larsson like that. Chia made this trade partly based on potential he sees in the player, that is obvious. Larsson has a ton of room to grow.

I agree.

So essentially if something doesn't fall in Chiarelli's lap, he's a complete moron.

At least we aren't alone in the stupid GM category!!! Welcome Bergevin and Chia! LOOOL

One of the best wingers in the league is going to help a team win over a top 4d man regardless of a teams positional need.

A sheer disaster for Oilers, Chia is quickly proving he was no upgrade on previous management groups.

The Oilers can't get much worse. I don't disagree with you on their management. But I think there was some logic involved. Barring any verified proof to the contrary I think it's safe to say the Oilers weren't getting any helpful offers for anyone fans wanted to part with (Eberle, RNH). So if you can't upgrade D, just stay the course and see if they offense can drag the team into the playoffs. Again? How many years are you going to do this? Without Hall the Oilers should have better than average goal production with the talent still on the team. They need better than abysmal defense. I do think the upgrade at D will offset the loss of Hall in the standings even if the Oilers end up netting 30 fewer goals.

 he is NOT a #4 right now. Any informed person can tell you that.

Actually I bet I've watched more of Larsson than any non NJ fan in this thread.

I always watch NJ games because I follow Schneider still because he's my favorite player. Larsson is NO WAY more than a #4 currently.

But go ahead and tell me how I'm not informed. I think you're the one who needs to be informed.

Adam Larsson has been in the NHL for 5 seasons. Whose the last player who was already an established NHL player to be traded and have his offensive numbers significantly rise? Im not talking about unproven traded players.

Wow!....does Chiarelli hate that 2010 draft or what?....first he trades Seguin and lives to regret it...now he deals the first overall pick in Hall, and will regret it again imo....nothing against Larsson, but my gawd the guy had 18 points in 82 games last year....surely RNH or even Eberle would have been preferable for the Oilers to deal?

Yeah let's not trade our first round picks and good players for a better player. Let's just trade our go to goal scorer for a player that doesn't even compare!! Yeah that's what will do!
