Not sure how to feel about a full price remaster of Metroid Prime. I'd pay full price for a trilogy remaster but just one game? Idk.

The Bayonetta game probably looks the most interesting to me of the new titles. More than the mainline Bayonetta games.

GBA and GBC is really cool. No GameCube is a bummer but tbh I don't think the Switch can handle the emulation. Though this has me wondering, will these games remain playable after Nintendo Switch online service inevitably ends? We're probably far away from that happening but I think this is the run with getting these games for "free" as opposed to virtual console releases like on 3DS.

Tears of the Kingdom looks cool but I mean. Everyone is getting it and they didn't really show all that much as far as gameplay and alterations to Hyrule are concerned. If you really can drop in from the sky to any point on the map, that'd be pretty cool though. Not as fast as quick travel but could be fun.

As a fire emblem engage expansion pass holder, i was really hoping for more than just extra emblem characters. One of the four waves being the only one with additional story content is lame. But I should have learned my lesson with the 3 Houses DLC. As flawed as Fire Emblem Fates was, at least one of their DLCs was a full blown story campaign, and Awakening had a nice set of additional challenge maps.

Couldn't give a shit about Pikmin to this day.

Octopath 2 looks solid aesthetics wise but I didn't have patience to get through the original Octopath's demo. That isn't going to change I don't think. Maybe I'll give the original a try if it ever goes on sale.

The free to play air hockey brawler looked kind of interesting. The design is a little bland but assuming this is PVP 3v3 and that wasn't just bots, it looks like it could be fun.

That's all I remember.

Pretty hype for Fire Emblem GBA without having to emulate tbh.

I just dont like the cartoonish graphics?
Fair. Was just wondering what the issue was. There's a difference between people being pissed that it doesn't look like the most graphics intensive game (which I see a lot with Switch games from people who can't cope with hardware limitations) and just not liking the art style.

Oh no…i just couldnt get into it because of the art/graphics. Basically the same reason why I cant get into the Persona 5 game (which in itself is also a great game but I just cant get over the art style/graphics ). And I absolutely LOVE zelda, OoT and Link to the Path being my 2 favorite games of all time.

Ah. Still. I'd go for 30.

Would be ideal, but I don't think $40 is bad as graphically it looks like more beefed up then I expected, plus we got a new control scheme on top of the original and the Wii motion controls.

Like I think they did more work on this then the Skyward Sword remaster that they charged a full $60 for.

That's fair. I didn't get that either and I actually enjoyed Skyward Sword. I guess for me I enjoyed Metroid Prime as a kid but not enough that I'd want to pay full price it again unless they added a ton of new content. Or, as I said I'd pay full price or a little over for the full trilogy.

At this point I don't expect GameCube online this gen, if ever. I think Nintendo realizes there is more money in just remastering select GameCube and Wii games and reselling them close to, if not exactly, at full price.

Though on that note it does make me wonder how the two WiiU Zelda remasters still haven't been ported over despite the entire rest of the WiiU library being re-released on the Switch.

It is odd how much of Tears of the Kingdom they seem to be holding to their chests. We really know nothing about how the core gameplay loop will work.

Yeah that's true.

Wishful thinking I guess since they only seem to be remastering/re-releasing the very most popular GC games but I'd love a chance to play some of the lesser games I loved on that system.

Speaking of, it's super annoying that you can't buy Mario 3D all stars digitally anymore. I missed the boat on buying it digitally and now everyone sells it for a markup that I'm honestly just not willing to pay. Like it's three good games, sure, but I don't want to pay 80 bucks to scratch that nostalgia itch.

I think I just have a mental block against paying full price for remasters. Cause I'd absolutely pay full price for a bundle of Twilight Princess and Windwaker HD without thinking twice. But I wouldn't pay full price for either individually.

It's a great deal for someone who has never played it though

Them cashing in on re-masters is significant motivation not to. But, I also think that due to how limited storage is on a Switch, and how you essentially download every game in the N64, Genesis, SNES, and NES, when you install that systems available catalog on your Switch, the amount of storage Gamecube games would take under that would be sizable. So, they would likely have to make the games downloadable a la carte within their service.

This was the most disappointing Direct for me in awhile. The only thing that I really liked was the brief shots of the Xenoblade story DLC, which looks pretty cool. Older versions of Shulk and Rex, looks like it will really tie in and wrap up the story of the Xenoblade trilogy.

Also I'm surprised people are defending the Metroid Prime price. It's a game from 2002! $120 USD for the trilogy is going to be ridiculous.

Sony sells all their games for $70 and Metroid Prime is better than any game to ever release on Playstation, I'm not sure what the issue is.

The "it's old, so it should be dirt cheap" frustrations have never resonated with me at all, personally (same with "it's short, so it should be dirt cheap"). If an experience is genuinely good enough to be worth $60 when it's released, I don't see why it should be worth any less than that twenty years down the line. I pay for how much I value the work itself, not some calculation of how much additional work got put into a certain iteration of a product. Can't say I care about that either way. Conversely, if someone puts a ton of work/resources into something that I end up not valuing, I'm not any more inclined to pay for it-- it's not a freaken charity.

Like... I'm not any more willing to pay top dollar for a remake than I am for a remaster. For all I know, the remake can be inferior to the remaster. The ONLY thing that matters is how good the two things actually are, respectively, regardless of whether it accomplishes it by spending a lot or a little.
