I hadn't thought about the Lemiuex thing. I am not a fan of that family at all. Same vibe from the Tkachuks too.

While I agree to some extent, I don't think you appreciate how much nicer it is to play for one of the west coast AHL affiliates (Ontario, San Diego, San Jose, Tucson, Henderson). Or some of the nice cities in the South and midwest.

Hartford is kind of bland. The Rangers have put some money into the scouts and development coaches, though I wish we would get another 2 skating coaches, but they need to really pump money into Hartford. Updated facilities, best practice rink, cameras, streaming, coverage. There isn't much else to do in Hartford. If they put the effort in, the Pack could probably out draw the Coyotes. Haha
They should ditch Hartford and relocate their AHL affiliate to the Meadowlands. You literally couldn't pick a better spot for an AHL team. It's right next to American Dream mall. Families could catch a cheap game and shop and all that stuff. Recalling players would be a simple Uber ride through one of the tunnels. And young players could spend their free time in NYC. The arena isn't being used for anything meaningful right now.

Cant really fault the organization on this one. Schneider beat him out for that spot. It is what it is. He's not starting over Trouba. And he's certainly not starting over Fox.

Drury has a really nice barganing chip here. If he cant get a player for him, get another 1st in this years draft.

Cant be hasty with it though. Anything can happen. Injury, disgruntled player ahead of him...Maybe a switch to the Left side?
Nobody is giving us a 1st for him

Yea he's not showing much determination. He wants a more guaranteed path, I mean who doesn't want that. But, c'mon, bet on yourself and earn the spot. If he believes he's good enough all he has to do is show them. And adapt, show you can play the left side.

It's whatever. This is why I felt Jones was the most logical player for the spot anyway. Robertson will try out too.

What about Dallas?
Don't really see them need a RHD. They've got Miro-Miller-Hakapanna. I think the 2 teams that make the most sense are the Habs and the Kraken. Maybe Buffalo since they have a ton of questions marks and try out Dahlen/Power-Lundkvist.

He's also simply not a PPQB.

And his performance last season did a lot more to hurt his trade value than this public request likely did.

I'm going to predict a return of two 2nd round picks.

That is yet to be seen.

Kid has a very strong resume, and candidate for a breakout season. He's 22 signed for two more years on an entry level contract.

I love Kriederbomb, thats my boy. But he is like this ALL the time with players he doesnt like and because he doesnt like them, they have less value.

He did this with Geo.. and look what we got for him.

The Meadowlands Rangers has a pretty good ring to it.

Lundkvist should’ve been moved last trade deadline. The problem with now, and every team In the NHL knows it, is that they are very limited in what they can trade FOR. Picks, prospect, or NHL’er on ELC. That’s about it.

However, Drury might’ve tried (who knows) and gotten low balled. We’ll never know - the organization is as tight as it’s ever been with leaks.

It’s a shame MIN has Calen Addison ready to replace Kulikov and play full-time NHL minutes this year. Beckman for Lundkvist would be a good deal for both teams.

I like RangerBoy’s idea of working out a trade with Dallas.

While its nice to have the team close for call ups, i think it should go somewhere that it would be the main attraction. I'm not suggesting Halifax but I'll use them as an example with junior hockey. They are far enough away from NHL teams that they are the main focus of the city. World juniors are always full in Halifax, its places like this that get behind minor league teams because they don't have the nhl option. Look at the worldjuniors in edmonton this year, big hockey city but they are all waiting for the NHL to start, wait and see what the attendance is like for the next one in halifax. I believe AHL teams should be put in areas that have population but no pro teams but thats my opinion.

I like Nils...i hate their handling of him. The problem isn't Nils its that we already know who our core is and we're expecting a kid who probably should be in the nhl to sit around and delay his payday. Meanwhile we're tossing draft picks for players instead of trading redundant players and keeping the picks for players we will need on entry level deals later. That in a nut shell is my issue.
We got very little for Georgiev, a 3rd and a 5th is nothing considering so many teams were looking for goalies.

Right, I was just thinking about this.

This is weak from Nils. Schneider was marginally better. Who’s to say he wouldn’t have struggled as Nils did if he didn’t get a few months in the AHL to start?

He could have come to camp and outplayed Schneider. It’s not like he showed up and was some world beater.
Schneider played all 20 playoff games. it would take an epic, monumental collapse for Nils to make it.

This was a matter of when and not if. Nils was not making this roster in any capacity for at least least the next two years

I find this perception really interesting because while i certainly won’t argue Nils was great, Schneider was terrible and entirely rode the reputation of his first great week all the way to the playoffs. He got a much longer leash because the Rangers (and HF) like him more, that’s really it, not because he was materially better than Nils.

This was never a fight Nils was winning regardless of how he played. Schneider is big and physical. He got walked like a dog all year by 4th liners. He was statistically one of the worst D in the league this year (which Nemeth absolutely had a hand in). But he’s big and tuff and Nils isn’t. that’s it.

The Rangers received two third round picks and a fifth for Georgiev. The Rangers weren't planning to qualify Georgiev. They couldn't afford him. Other teams knew it.

What did Carolina get for Nedeljkovic? 3rd round pick. What did the Blues get for Husso? 3rd round pick. What did the Caps get for Vanecek? A 3rd round pick. Both teams swapped 2nd round picks. What did San Jose get for Hill? 4th round pick.

The last three trades were this off-season.

How the f*** did the Rangers get very little for Georgiev?

There is no issue with the Rangers handling of Lundkvist.

But everything else being equal, that makes a difference.

This notion that the game has left any physicality behind is premature. It's less important than it used to be, but it still matters, especially when you're talking about what a defenseman can or can't do in their role.

The Stars have a million forward prospects. The Stars aren't playing all of them. The Stars need a D to replace Klingberg. They have no one in their organization.

also the Rangers did nothing wrong with Nils from what i can tell but this is not a team/FO that deserves the benefit of the doubt. at all.

they did nothing wrong stockpiling talent at RHD and there’s nothing wrong with letting them go when they have no spot. they probably clutched their toys too much, yet again, but with the benefit of hindsight i thought they did the right thing.

i didn’t say it left physicality. i’m saying that Nils performance isn’t why Schneider won and retained a spot. Schneider retained his spot because they value his skills more, performance not withstanding

5 foot 10 defenseman who is only okay at defense and cant crack the lineup over younger prospects, and you guys are dreaming about getting a 1st rd pick? I doubt it

The return is more likely to be a forward in the same position in another org.

Similar to Joey Keane/Gauthier trade

There is no issue with the Rangers handling of Lundkvist.

Poor asset management, they were looking for a 1st for him a year ago, they didn't get it but they could have easily gotten a 2nd then. There absolutely an issue with Lundkvist's handling, you think this is the first Drury is hearing about this? They should have moved him before teams knew we had to move him. It's painfully obvious to everyone he isn't getting into the lineup without an injury. He's not as good as Jones, not as big as Robertson and ofcourse he's a right side player behind Fox, Trouba and Schneider. This team lately has been selling low on everyone.

7 pages and no deals grouping Nils with Trouba to 'maximize value'? The captaincy only adds to Troubas value guys!

Could not roll my eyes harder at this.

Yes how dare the Rangers stock pile RHD and be in a position to move one because they have 3 who are better!

He played with the team and was on the roster until what, January last year? He lost his spot and decided that he didn't want to fight back for it and would rather have an easier road somewhere else. That isn't on management, thats on HIM.
Shouldve traded him sooner. That's my issue.

Now he demands a trade and his value tanks.

Just my opinion. Feel free to roll your eyes more
