I'm not defending Bobrov, but what incentive would he have at that point to lie to anyone before a draft? These kids don't have a say where they're selected. Then once the draft is complete, his contact with them would be diminished. The liars would probably be the agents, GMs & player development staff, IMO.

This isn’t viewed the same way in European football. Good young players that aren’t quite good enough to crack the lineup at the big clubs get loaned or sold to lesser teams that need bodies. It’s a smart system, and I assume these Euro kids think that’s how things operate here as well.
i buy there being some truth to that with kravtsov. whether there was a misunderstanding or he legitimately spoke for the org in making promises on roster spots/ice time stuff we'll probably never know the actual truth.
re nils though dont think thats the case at all. certainly looked like we shoehorned him into a spot and that may have been discussed. but his request isnt at all about hard feelings with how he was treated. that was part of the message included in the request info being made public. he simply sees the writing on the wall that fox will be the main pp guy for the foreseeable future and the right side has fox/trouba/schneider. all of them are locked in and firmly ahead of him on the depth chart. this isnt at all like krav, he just has vitrually no chance of a regular spot on the lineup here.

I don’t like the top 4/6 and PP part at all either.
But at the same time, we often see the players with the strongest support cast — like parents as ex players — make the toughest demands.
Kevin Hayes is one example. Chicago wanted him to be a winger. They had guys like Buff and Bickel playing top 6 roles as real bring out the garbage type of players. Hayes thought he was the best fit at center. He forced his way out from a top NHL team to a more struggling team he had no attachment to. It worked out well for him.
Montreal traded Romanov to the Islanders for the 13th pick overall. The Canadiens traded the 13th pick overall to Chicago for Dach.
Does that mean the Rangers can acquire a 1st round pick for Lindgren next summer if they need to move the player for salary cap reasons? If the Rangers wanted to move Kakko next summer, the Rangers are getting a 1st round pick for Kakko considering Dach brought back a 1st round pick.

If you want a trade, wouldn't it behoove you to show up at camp, in great condition and play your ass off so that more teams get in on the action and it increases the likelihood that you DO get dealt?

Agreed but his agent shouldn't let this get that far.
Why any player, with a brain, and genuine potential, would choose Claude Lemieux, seems self-defeating to me

I'm doubtful this is the first time he has requested it, players and agents don't pull this as their first step. Its usually a last resort

He just wants out. He doesn't care if the value coming back isn't large.
This is on the front office more than it's on the prospect.
How many prospects does this have to happen with for folks to realize it's the organization, not the player? Spot the trend, people. There's one constant in all of them. And it's not the player.
The Rangers are better off loaning him to a Swedish than trading him for a bad return. The Rangers have his rights until Lundkvist turns 27.
It's always the European guys.
